  1. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Yeah ... Baron Zemo, Baron Blood ... I suspect it may be due to association with The Red Baron, thus 'baron' associates to Nazi ...
  2. Re: The cranky thread Never mind ... the whole damn thing fell off last night while I was sleeping. ><
  3. Re: The cranky thread I am not gonna make it six weeks with this stupid incision site mess I have. It will NOT stick to my body. It's not protecting anything right now, it can't be. It won't stay sealed, the tape won't stick to me at least in part because of where it is ... it's a part of my body where the skin has to flex a lot just with doing ordinary stuff. It also itches and I desperately want to tear it from my chest.
  4. Re: Calling all Green Lanterns I had a character named Starbolt who was basically a GL, except that his powers were innate; he had no focus gadget for them (and they were yellow ...).
  5. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Hmm ... I can't recall one of those, either. Pure gadgeteer sorts have been rare; we see a lot more power-armor sorts, or 'guys with powers that use gadgets too', like a teleporting martial artist who has a pool for weapons and such.
  6. Re: The cranky thread I used to read the obituaries looking for the names of people I hated. Then the restaurant I worked at stopped getting newspaper service.
  7. Re: Stretching as a Barrier Makes sense to me.
  8. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Strangely, I can't recall anybody ever playing a Batman homage in a game I've been in.
  9. Re: And now, for your daily dose of cute... Koala-matose.
  10. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? And this relates to Captain Comet how?
  11. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? I quite like the show, myself, though it does have its hit-and-miss moments. On a side note, Vixen has the worst luck with power selection when falling; she has yet to actually manage to 'dial up' a power set with Flight when that happens.
  12. Re: The cranky thread I'm having serious trouble finding medical tape that will actually adhere to my chest, to keep my catheter taped down and my exit site covered.
  13. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Vixen was something of an homage to Ben 10; multiple power sets she could access only one at a time, with a disheartening tendency to not get the set she wanted when she tried for it.
  14. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Huh. I've always just thought of pizza crust as that thing you put the toppings on because they have to go on something.
  15. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore I dunno, the part of the crust past the toppings is pretty bland to me, no matter what. I usually skip it, unless I can dip it. I kinda miss Pizza Hut's 'Edge' pizza, where you didn't have that border of just-crust around the outside ...
  16. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Do we ever?
  17. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Ooh, hadn't thought of that ...
  18. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore me, too. I usually eat pizza with a knife and fork, and cut the crusts off first and eat them (many of the local pizza places sell marinara sauce or garlic butter, and I use that to dip). I'd just dip these in that mustard drizzle.
  19. Re: The cranky thread That happens to me a lot ... I'm really not a morning person. Thanks for the hopes ... I'm actually doing a bit better now already. The nurse told me that the first day of post-op is always the worst, and it seems like it was. I was actually able to get out of bed unassisted just now ... just had to think about it. Since I have nothing to pull on, and can't just flex my stomach muscles to sit up, I need to push myself off the bed with my elbow. In other news, I really want to get some Mountain Dew, but I can't drive on prescription-strength painkillers.
  20. Re: The cranky thread Back from the hospital. Surgery went fine, catheter itself works fine. Every single moment aside from those two, however, was a total disaster. They couldn't find a good place to put the IV until after prodding and sticking me a dozen times. I had to lay on my left side in a hard hospital bed for several hours while they tested the catheter, without support so I had to hold the position; my shoulder is killing me. My chest and stomach muscles are so tender that I need help to dress myself, or even get out of bed at all. Coughing or sneezing is agonizing. This freakin' Percocet beter work.
  21. Re: Ben 10: Omniverse Probably just the art style. Edit: Just took a look at Wikipedia. Yeah, the character designs are the work of Derrick J. Wyatt, the clod responsible for the execrable look of Transformers: Animated.
  22. Re: Can Only Attack With Powers That Attack Him Depends on what the pie was built as.
  23. Re: The cranky thread Okay, here we go ... about 36 hours, give or take, without eating and with limited drink options, followed by a laxative tonight. I just started going over all the paperwork I've received about the 'prep day', and I have, annoyingly, discovered there are several sections that contradict one another. I'm tempted to take it all with me so if someone gives me a 'we told you to do this', I can point and say 'yeah, and you also told me to do THIS, and THIS'. Edit: At least I can eat. One of the things I noticed that was contradictory on all my paperwork was the time I had to stop eating; I had times of 9am yesterday, as soon as I woke up today, 10pm tonight, and midnight tonight. I finally just called the hospital and asked, basically, 'Well, which is it?!' And the nurse I spoke to said to go with 10pm. So, at least, I can eat dinner ...
  24. Re: A Thread for Random Musings My Twitter account is recommending that I follow the Dalai Lama. I can't decide which is weirder ... that it thinks I have anything in common with the Dalai Lama, or that the Dalai Lama is on Twitter.
