  1. Brexit wasn't done as a voting measure. It was done as a poll. Dave Cameron just said we're going to do this thing that the poll wants us to do. And then he bailed instead of seeing it through and dropping it on May, and then Johnson. Both of these people have reputations for being stupid in different ways. This is the reason that some of the Brits and Scots that I have seen online have gone back to calling Cameron a person who has sexual congress with pigs. CES
  2. Tora Tora Tora is the source of the machine gun footage on the Falcon from Star Wars. CES
  3. Sorry DT. I just noticed this. The Thin Man is a movie based on a book written by Dashiel Hammet, the same man who wrote the Maltese Falcon. The plot of the movie is Nick and Nora Charles are enjoying Nora's wealth while on vacation. Nick is a retired policeman who has cracked some whodunnits in his time. He's also friends with Wynant, a rich engineer. When a partially destroyed body is found in Wynant's lab, and Wynant missing, Nick is drawn into the investigation. At the end of the movie, he gathers all the suspects for a dinner so he can explain what he knows and get some answers to his remaining questions. Whenever you see Monk, or Shaun Spencer, or the detectives in Death in Paradise do something like this where the crime is laid out and the killer tricked into confessing, this is one of the first examples of it being done. CES
  4. Good Luck, DT. I would to say that Boris Johnson is better than Trump, but I can't tell a lie that big CES
  5. Zorro with Tyrone Power and Rathbone. Rathbone is said to have been a good fencer. Power and Flynn were not CES
  6. When DC restarted the Blue Beetle, they based him out of Chicago instead of his native Hub City. This appealed to Tracy Karr. She loved that her city had a hero that lived there and protected it. When she discovered the Book of Atum Re and recreated the Scarab of the Sun, she decided that she should be a real Blue Beetle. DC was not amused and ordered her to cease and desist using the Blue Beetle name. She took on the name Solar Scarab, but some still call her Fangirl CES
  7. You want a brick capable of throwing a car, and stopping bullets: Vampira You want a rogue capable of breaking into most targets without being seen: Vampira You want a man or woman hypnotized into giving you anything you want: Vampira But she doesn't do windows or daylight CES
  8. Heard on the radio: Man pleads guilty of smuggling powered milk. CES
  9. Hugh, I seem to remember you're an accountant. Is that right? How would you do taxes? CES
  10. You missed the fifth one. Our heroes visit Nick's parents (which is totally different from the parts of the book I remember), and become embroiled in murder and espionage. At the now customary summation, Nick has all the guests searched and plenty of back up from the local cops. Nora is a little outraged at his spoiling the best part of the case for her CES
  11. I always liked the thin man. The summation at dinner has been copied by everyone, but this movie was the first that I remember seeing it used. CES
  12. White house and Turkey haggling over American nukes on Turkish soil. CES
  13. Read Critical Role's Graphic Novel as our heroes get together to stop a demon from poisoning a swamp to clear the people out CES
  14. It was either that or let people die. No one had the money to save because it was the great depression. Surviving businesses weren't going to help their employees. The biggest opposition was inside the government that had already mismanaged the banking system and was trying to prevent a pull out of the depression because they didn't want to help anyone at all. It's very similar to how republicans opposed the ACA when it was based on their plan in the first place. CES
  15. I disagree on all of this. When Social Security started, no one wanted to pay into it. Businesses didn't want to support it. Basically FDR had to ram it through and make people like it. Same with medicare. CES
  16. The Train Man can use the tracks of the local railroads and elevateds to get around the city. He keeps his full potential hidden so he is considered weak for not having abilities away from the tracks. No one knows of his ability to summon trains wherever he is, and that he can use that to travel on open roads or the waters of Lake Michigan CES
  17. Carol Hardy is the destructive villain know as Lens. She magnifies flaws in material until the material breaks under the stress of her regard CES
  18. Five highlights for my dungeon are: 1) The Fish Tank: Numerous predatory fish are kept in a closed section of the Facility. From the Megalodon, to the Lake Placid Monster, each creature has its own space with plenty of fish to eat. Each separate section can be opened from the top but it is not recommended. 2) The Asylum: A few people have been experimented on. They have suffered mental breaks from reality. They are kept locked in and cared for by the staff so they can't use their powers and cause a breakout. That would be disastrous for both the Facility and New York City. 3) The Grimoire: The Facility has gained custody of magic using fiends/magicians/weird entities. They are kept on the other side of the Asylum in special traps and and cells. They are monitored to prevent the inmates from mixing with the Asylum across the place. 4) The Zoo: The Facility's major area is for the care of monsters and unnatural creatures that it has collected over the years. This is a major area of concern since some of the giant monsters breaking loose would naturally wreck the cells of the other prisoners. 5: Self Destruct System: If the system is breached, and there is a chance of some of the monsters and fiends escaping, the Facility can be destroyed with a mix of antimatter and nuclear fuel. It is assumed that a part of the city would just develop a sinkhole and part of the harbor would be radioactive. No one knows. CES
  19. The Mysterion is a hero that may be a walking suit of armor, or a gas in a bag, or a fancy trickster. He appears in a cloud of mist, and disappears just as quickly. His calling card is a bowl of goldfish. CES
  20. Soul reaches into people with her brain and knows everything about them. She can run their bodies, alter perception, even go as far as kick them out of their bodies and bottle them. She just can't read minds. CES
  21. I have to think about what five chambers I want. I'll try to come up with something tonight CES
  22. The mighty Unicorn uses her horn of justice on evil doers on any evil doers who get in her way CES
  23. Bee Woman has all the powers of a bee which she implants in her victims and causes them to obey her commands with their new tiny wings CES
