And it removes the necessity of trying to fit a map to a hex grid to make sense. Which removes the printing step of overlaying a hex grid on a map.

Fear and loathing initially. Some of the numbers would drop off if they were made public. The government would look to collect them for "study".
2 is a statement and doesn't really leave a lot of room for comment beyond "that sucks".

Personally, I don't like it. Part of throwing a haymaker is the inherent problem of the extra time required putting the extra oomph into the attack.
