  1. Re: Cool Guns for your Games I used to own a S&W model 19 with a four-inch barrel and presentation grips. It was the pride-and-joy of my modern handguns, and it fit my hand very well. It looked something like this (I think the illustrated gun has a 7" barrel): I
  2. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Over the last week, I watched (amongst other things): Ancient Aliens The History Channel provides fodder for padding out your science-fictiony alternative history. My only complaint is the number of "experts" who assume that aliens would have had to have built Stonehenge/the Nazca lines/Maccu-Piccu/[enter ancient engineering marvel of your choice] because stone-age humans were too stupid to do it themselves. Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning Saw this on DVD. Excellent spoof of Star Trek and Babylon 5. Stone-age Atlantis National Geographic brings us the story of middle-stone-aged people who lived on the land exposed by low ocean levels during the ice age, and what happened when the ice started melting. Darkwing Duck (the 1-hour (two ½-hours) pilot episode) That show was a lot more fun than I remembered, and Darkwing wasn't the capitol-J Jerk that I remembered either. Not bad really. Maybe I'll watch more.

  4. Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!) My last dream had a medieval setting. A young woman drank a potion. This caused a demonic entity to appear, which wanted to hunt her down and do unspeakable things to her. I knew no-one could face the demon and prevail, so I brought in the incredible Hulk and set him on the demon's trail. I had a god's-eye-view of the goings-on and when the demon got too close to anyone I reached down and moved them to a safer place. I kept having to move military patrols (archers, knights, etc.) away from the Hulk because they kept mistaking him for an ogre. Just before I woke up I managed to herd the Hulk into line-of-sight with the demonic thing. Presumably they fought, And I was confident the Hulk would tear the demon a new one.
  5. Re: Dwarves, Elves and Hobbits Need Not Apply! One word: rishathra. I've always been fond of using some of the "Known Universe" species, with some modifications to make them more balanced for use by PCs. The Kzin make for decent badguys, but like Klingons, someone will want to play one, so you've got to have some flexibility. Maybe not all of them are devoted to subjugating all other races. Rather, like humans, they have a variety of cultures which span the gap between gregarious and friendly and deeply hostile.

  18. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? I watched Life After People on DVD. Just to confirm: No artifacts of a technological civilization would be recognizable after 10,000 years' worth of decay so long as they did not construct large stone monuments (the Pyramids, Mount rushmore, etc.) If they did construct large stome monuments at or near ice-age sea levels, they would be so covered in sealife/debris/whatever that they would be unrecognizeable, so long as they started out as no less than 130m (a little less than 450 feet).
