  1. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore They are! Keep a ramekin of maple syrup on hand for dipping!
  2. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Bunny: I'll rep you when I can. In a similar vein: And a few unrelated ones
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Videos That looks like it was done using Sims3.* I'd rep Certified but I gotta spread it. Can somebody get him for me? *With a lot of custom mods.
  4. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Tivoed X-Men Origins: Wolverine I was mentally taking notes and at the same time realizing this movie lacked fire. It's like somebody's fanfic put on film. Trying to cram four (or more) hours' worth of information into a 1½ hour movie leaves no time to develop characters or plot before the credits roll. This would have been much better as a made-for-TV "miniseries".
  5. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore This just in: It's real, and in test marketing.
  6. Re: Super Zeroes That inspired me. The Innumerati: A very large ad-hoc group of conspiracy theorists. They have the straight dope on every conspiracy on the face of the planet. Unfortunately, they have "the straight dope" on an equally large number of conspiracies that they think are real but aren't. Under the right circumstances they can be a great help to the caped community, but only for those "capers" who can discern which conspiracies are really real, and not just Innumerati folklore.
  7. Re: Super Zeroes Hey! My Dad had that power!
  8. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Oops! Almost forgot some I thought of recently: A Playboy and His dog Underwearwolf The story of a lycanthrope with a lingerie fetish. The Wind and the Lion The tragic struggle of a flatulent lion with no pride. *ducks* Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of What's under Velma's Sweater (If you were ever a geeky young heterosexual man this thought sooo crossed your mind.) Tony Orlando and Dawn of the Dead Crouching Tiger, Hidden Drag Queen
  9. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Full of awesome and fail simultaneously. I wish I could rep you but I have to spread it around before I can.
  10. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? I finally sat down and watched Forbidden Kingdom. This should be mandatory watching prior to starting any wild martial arts campaign. I give it three thumbs up, hard to do with only two hands.
  11. Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!) Nope! Make yer own and tell me about it. New Dream: There was this demonic diesel locomotive bent on wrecking trains, and I had the power of "command voice" (in game terms, this meant I either had massive amounts of PRE or I had some sort of powerful mind control ability). I commanded the train down a section of unused track, then later remembered that this unused track connected with the local light rail system. While at home, I was pondering what to do when I noticed a large locomotive just outside my window. At first, I thought it was the evil locomotive coming to get me, but then it communicated with me (by a means that wasn't very clear in the dream) that it was a good locomotive that had been sent to help me stop the bad one. I got in the cab of the good locomotive and we chased the bad one down until we could latch their couplings together. Then I crossed over to the bad loco, entered the cab, and shut it down.
  12. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. About 20-or-so years ago, my mom (then in her mid-seventies) was driving me around town. We were driving down a road with a 40 MPH speed limit when a blue-haired old lady pulled out in front of us and proceeded to race along at, perhaps, fifteen miles per hour. The traffic was thick and there were no opportunities to pass the elderly roadblock. I could see my mom fuming in the seat next to me. Finally she heaved an exasperated sigh and uttered "Oh, these old drivers!"
  13. Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!) I dreamed I was at a museum of fine arts when a gang of old ladies appeared and began shooting yarn at everyone from their knitting needles. If they hit you, you would be entangled in strong yarn and unable to move. Their leader was an invisible man who sounded like the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken. There was a Batman analogue and a few other not-quite-name-brand super heroes there, and I was a minor superhero with the power of being "slightly invisible" (people could still see me but didn't think it was important that I was there ). I followed the bad grannies around, freeing victims and telling them to get out as fast as they could. The grannies captured the superheroes and had finally noticed me when the rest of the superheroes arrived and captured the whole gang.

  15. Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!) I've been having "military service" dreams again. Earlier this week I dreamed I had finally retired, but was still working for the AF anyway. Last night I dreamed I was glad I was retired when they informed me I had been recalled to active duty and was therefore subject to regulations re: my weight (I am no pixie ). I was upset but realized that they still had no leverage since I was old and cranky and the best they could do was kick me out of the service, reinstating my retired status. Yeah, I know. Boring.
  16. Re: A Thread for Random Videos This explains why I have a problem with settings where "science stopped working", where "science" is equal to any technological device whatsoever. If science doesn't work then why can I still whack my thumb with a hammer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RouXygRcRC4
  17. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? I still gotta get Talespin, but I did watch the pilot (first) and second episode. I'm trying to only watch one or two a week so as to savor them. I only ever saw four episodes and that was right after I got satellite TV for the first time (and shortly before Nick at Night pulled it from rotation ). Lately, I've been TIVO-ing Cow and Chicken on Boomerang. It always cracks me up when Chicken says something like "Cow, if you don't stop botherin' me I'm gonna tell everyone at school you milked the bed!"
  18. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Children of the Corncob Bad things happen when hillbilly children get all psychic and stuff. Curse of the Catgirls The Loch Ness Mobster Zack and Miri Make a Family Feature The 5,000 Magic Fingers of Dr. T.
  19. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Watched Neighbors from Hell on TBS. Looks like a fun little show. Not much depth, but plenty of good gags, with some nauseating "humor". This morning I discovered that the copy of Tales of the Gold Monkey I had preordered had already been delivered, so I know what I'm going to be watching for the next few days.
  20. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? If you watch it in fast-forward, does Red Cliff look blue?
  21. Re: Worst Hero Names (of your campaigns) One guy in one of my early campaigns ran a starship captain named "Ebenezer Scrooge". He was new to RPGs and We didn't want to spend the time it would take to talk him into a better name. One character I never ran was Captain Ordinary. I wrote him up numerous times, trying to figure out what powers a guy named that would have. One character I wanted to run at one time was Le Petomane. Click on the name if you need an explanation why that wasn't a good name for a super (although he might've gone over big in France).

  23. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. Heard on the radio: "As a scientist, Professor Throckmorton knew that if he broke wind in the echo chamber, he would never hear the end of it."
