  1. Re: The Super drugs It certainly was. Wound up two weeks ago.
  2. Re: The Super drugs I introduced something like this into the early part of the Kingdom City Campaign. The stuff acted like a super steroid, making the user fast abd strong and overconfident, but it had the side effects of massive letdown afterwards and early versions commonly caused heart failure due to overexertion. The drug was a co-development of VIPER and the War Machine - the latter to get a combat drug, the former because of it's addictive qualities. No one gained permanent superpowers from the drug, but Vitus came close to addicting himself to it, and Orca accidentally created the Psychobeast (an insane, six-meter tall monster that constantly projects a cone of psychic agony in front of him by throwing the administrator of the project into a bunch of burning barrels of highly toxic ingrdediants. However, Vitus used the last of the drug to hold off Deadstroyer in the final battle long enough for the Deus Ex Machina to work.

  5. Re: Slow Space Elevator Not so. You simply need a non-economic reason to build it. The Apollo program provided basically nothing in terms of tangible economic benefit. Scientifically it was a marginal success - we actually learned more in a few months of the Skylab program than we did in the 10+ years of Apollo. We got some nice rocks, learned about the nature of the lunar surface, and solved some tricky engineering problems. Any or all of which could have been done by unmanned probe systems. And it threw our national prestige into the stratosphere. Which was the REAL reason for doing it at all. Economics is NOT the be all and end all of why we do things. If we an convince the populace or the government to do this for other reasons, it can be done.

  10. Re: Slow Space Elevator To be fair, a large part of that was the reapplication of the heat shield. The original model wasn't supposed to need an add-on shield, but Congress balked at the cost of making it out of Titanium. Oddly enough, that probably saved the program. Later modeling showed that the Titanium shell would not have withstood the temperature of reentry the way NASA had though it would Nyrath - very cool links.
  11. Re: Mid 70's Equipment No Glocks. The H&K P7 arrives in 1976, but doesn't make much of a bang; likewise, SIG-Sauers are rare. The only common 9mm automatics are Brownings. 90% of police still use revolvers, and automatics in general are still looked upon as unreliable (this is a holdover from earlier days, and no longer true, but reputations take time to change).
