They also proved lethal to the then-current generation of US tanks and armoured vehicles. However, the development and deployment of vehicles with Laminate armour (more or less starting with the M1 Abrams in 1980) has made purely Kinetic weapons the preferred tank killers (thus the use of DU-SABOT rounds by modern tanks for the purpose).
