  1. Re: The Last Word Yep. Let's you find most of the config stuff fairly easy and makes the marketing department happy. Other than that, no big deal. There are non-certified that are pretty close.
  2. Re: Bollywood Action Movie Insanity I see a lot of GMs in the future going "You want to what?"
  3. Re: The cranky thread Ick Old Man. I'm lightly starting to look for other work since a few things with my wife's job aren't sounding great. Though I'm also getting set to pimp my photos more. I hate trying to sell myself.
  4. Re: The Last Word I've had experience with around 20 different flavors. Most differences are fairly cosmetic, even if you throw Linux into the mix. AIX was the biggest problem to deal with early on, but even it was fairly easy to switch to. Most of the versions had contributions from a bunch of different companies, including Microsoft. And yes, MAX OS-X is still Unix System like. It just happens to also be certified which is a smaller subset. So is AIX. Just means they pass the tests.
  5. Re: For all your Nazis-invading-America needs.... I read The War? (Based on the Ken Burns bit) two months ago and there was a anecdote of one soldier talking to a german prisoner after the Battle of the Bulge who claimed he was originally trained to administer part of Connecticut. (Interesting book I thought btw)
  6. Re: The Last Word Late to this, but BSD & AT&T Unix have the same root.
  7. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore And for all your taco bell ingredient needs: http://www.tacobell.com/nutrition/ingredientstatement Rule of thumb: Fast Food is generally heavily processed.
  8. Re: The Last Word I've dealt with some of the problems with standards controlled by one company. It's generally a screwed up situation that winds up stagnating the field.
  9. Re: In no way a new idea but it still seems to be missing... You should check out Susano's http://surbrook.devermore.net/index/ Especially the character archive edit: There's a problem with walking away from the computer for an hour.
  10. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I've played poker a few times, but for the social aspect. Once after a thanksgiving dinner, a bunch of us started playing and I'm pretty much a novice. I started raking it in and this was quarter bets. I was up $40 and I came down with food poisoning or flu, and I really wanted to just leave. But I couldn't just go, so I tried losing. DIDN'T WORK! We finally broke up a bit later with me taking in $100 and having to pull over several times on the way home to throwup in bushes.
  11. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Scary? It's a little different than the original, but not far off in the tone of the original. IMO.
  12. Re: The cranky thread Pretty much the same thing.
  13. Re: The cranky thread Ah, the capricious of corporate HR. Promise one thing and then say you must of misunderstood.
  14. Re: The cranky thread No frickin kidding. We were just short of hitting the cap last month, and of course, we start over again. $6,000 that we don't have and we have insurance.
  15. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Gah. Wake up time of 4:40am tomorrow.
  16. Re: The Last Word That sounds bad. What was the death rate when polio was more prevalent?
  17. Re: Musings on Random Musings I think the protocol is mainly for military functions that a civilian may take part in, so in that case it's expected. Other than for those with a stick up their butt, I doubt it's expected elsewhere.
  18. Re: The cranky thread Thanks Xaviar for the laugh. Our pipes are frozen at the moment, despite the heat wrap.
  19. Re: The Last Word I woke up at 4am. Haven't had insomnia like this for awhile. Will try to go back to sleep after feeding the cats.
