  1. Re: The cranky thread A couple weeks ago my wife's best friend's aunt went to the doctor complaining about a light discharge. They took out her uterus, ovaries, colon, and some of her abs, and didn't get anywhere close to getting all the cancer out. Everything they've heard from the doctors so far sounds like code for "game over". The best friend is something of a wreck; she and the aunt were close.
  2. Re: Kill the Dude with the Thing When is the Thing going to get here? We're supposed to go kill that Dude!
  3. Re: Money in Fantasy Setting Of course, in a sufficiently high-magic setting, money could be entirely different. Magical credit-card equivalents could be used, or magical counterfeiting and forgery could adversely affect trade. Or a Star Trek Federation-like moneyless utopia could be formed. To me the real breakpoint is how many of a particular item are available. If there are 100,000 Excaliburs, then they'd be priced as really good swords. If there's only one then obviously it's priceless (where "priceless" is a really really high number).
  4. Re: Musings on Random Musings That could be it, though I would then be surprised that I don't dream of unfinished houses every. single. night.
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings I don't remember any of the landings, actually. And although I consider myself pretty up on dream symbolism, this one makes no sense to me whatsoever. Guns, cars, spiders, water, these are well understood Freudian imagery and they usually appear in my dreams in standard Freudian ways. But I don't know what unfinished houses or ten-story catapults are supposed to mean.
  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings In last night's dream, I was some kind of on-call exterminator. When my cell phone rang, I would leave the house and walk across the yard into another, partially-constructed house, which would be launched via an enormous catapult to the site of the reported infestation. I spent a lot of time finding the necessary equipment and wedging it into the frame of the catapult-house so that it wouldn't come loose when fired. I wonder about my subconscious sometimes.
  7. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Shouldn't you get them back from him? How can you post without them?
  8. Re: Money in Fantasy Setting The big problem is that FH is completely disconnected from any particular fantasy setting, and the setting is what determines cost, availability, and "normality" of goods. The price for Sting in a Middle-Earth setting would be higher than in, say, Forgotten Realms, where you can't throw a rock without hitting four magic items and a cursed artifact.
  9. Re: A Game Of Questions Stubble is a pain huh?
  10. Re: Kill the Dude with the Thing But does the thing deserve to be taken? What if it likes the dude? Does the dude have a choice? We should get together and discuss this first. We should make the world a place where Dudes and Things can live together and not worry about other people breaking them up.
  11. Re: The cranky thread You and I have similar likes. As for the thing with the women, I'm guessing that your sociopathy registers as confidence or even arrogance. For reasons which still elude me, these qualities attract women in swarms. That's why scumbags seem to get all the girls and nice guys wind up stuck alone at home. I personally have had most success with the opposite sex during those times when I had decided that I didn't need, or want, a girl for any reason. The only thing that got me more attention than that was my boy, when he was a baby. Girls like babies even more than they like scumbags.
  12. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread What? I'm lucky my thing is so huge, otherwise I'd lose it in there. Trimming is mandatory!
  13. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Freshly trimmed pubes.
  14. Re: Kill the Dude with the Thing If you don't check for Thing first, how do you know it's him? Maybe it's a her.
  15. Re: The cranky thread Did you have any cyberware installed?
  16. Re: A Game Of Questions Isn't it rude to discuss his illiteracy in public? Shouldn't you be ashamed of yourself?
  17. Re: The cranky thread I understand completely. I developed a truly passionate hatred for loud motorcycles when I became a parent. When you're already sleep deprived, and you finally get the kid to sleep, and then some f--khead with straight pipes goes roaring by at 2 A.M.--let's just say it's a good thing I didn't have a shotgun handy.
  18. Re: Kill the Dude with the Thing Pft, no worries you can suck up bunny poo with a straw easy. We only have to worry if The Bunny gets the thing.
  19. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread A kind of refined berserker? A drunken brawler who's into calligraphy and ikebana?
  20. Re: Shay, Wood Elf Beastmaster Can't really comment on something that looks good already.
  21. Re: What is Your Favorite Item? The Mallet of Blessing. When swung at full force it bestows a blessing upon the target. I forget what it was called but it wasn't an item so much as a creature that took on the appearance of an enchanted leather item (hat or glove). The creature was a parasite but in exchange for eating 1 hp per day (or whatever the character would naturally regen) it would help to keep the character alive.
  22. Re: Kill the Dude with the Thing Yeah no kidding. I totally agree with uh...whatever his name is up there, the dude.
  23. Re: Kill the Dude with the Thing No, violence is the solution!
