  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings My three-year-old is really into Born to be Wild; he makes me loop it on my iPhone when we're in the car. Maybe he'd like to hear that cover version.
  2. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I won half a million dollars in the lotto. I spent most of the afternoon wandering with a silly grin on my face, figuring out how to break the news to my family. I decided I'd probably put most of it toward the mortgage, but leave some aside to buy a nice car and some electronics--after all, what good is winning the lottery if you can't enjoy it? Then I woke up. I almost cried.
  3. Re: Musings on Random Musings Yeah. I can only assume it was for a stupid reason. Or for no reason. Let us know how the murder charge turns out.
  4. Re: Musings on Random Musings What is the Matrix?
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings Or like today, when I got blasted because one of my employees went to a strategically important class but couldn't be bothered to show up on time all week.
  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I don't like Hero Central. I appreciate the fact that a server exists to support PBP with the die rolling and whatnot. But it's so annoying to navigate that it's not a whole lot better than nothing. The threading is horrible. The emails it sends me are hard to read. It makes it so hard to refer back to what happened a couple of weeks ago that I just don't bother. The menu arrangement is arbitrary... it's like it's almost good, and that makes it even more irritating than it would be if it just outright sucked.
  7. Re: The cranky thread My three-year-old started preschool in January. He's been sick three times so far and managed to give it to the rest of us twice. Whee.
  8. Re: The cranky thread Luck, dude. Five full dice of Combat Luck.
  9. Re: A Thread for Random Musings "Oh no." "What?" "Look at my foot." looks "Uh...what about it." "The toes." "Huh?" "They're stuck together." "Um...OK." "They're cramping." "Oh...well, uncramp them." "You could be more sympathetic!!"
  10. Re: The cranky thread I can't stand doing performance reviews.
  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings More like I'm in hour three of some meeting wishing that it was just a dream I could wake up from, but it isn't.
  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings That particular nightmare happens a lot at work.
  13. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I have got to get myself one of these. http://www.calimacil.com/
  14. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I used a picture of a naked man in one of my ads. It's a classic painting of Hercules defeating the hydra, and I blurred the naughty bits and obscured them with text, but I'm catching hell anyway.
  15. Re: Musings on Random Musings Some of the worst nightmares I've had were the ones where I wanted to wake up, but couldn't.
  16. Re: Musings on Random Musings I can see why those commercials might leave a lasting impression.
  17. Re: Musings on Random Musings Wow, you're pretty old.
  18. Re: A Thread For Random Links Technically it isn't, it's only a semirigid airship. "Real" zeppelins are fully framed and do not rely on gas pressure to maintain their shape. Not that it matters. It's still
  19. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm a bit overweight. Have been for a while. The main problem is that I simply haven't got time to exercise, not with two small kids and a needy wife. However, I have started to actually figure out my caloric intake. While I knew I was probably overeating, I didn't know how much until I actually did the math. I am making dietary changes accordingly, mostly through the reduction of portion sizes. I really ought to be able to get by on 1500 calories or less especially considering I fly a desk.
  20. Re: Musings on Random Musings It does seem odd. Why bother? The bill passed the House with no GOP help whatsoever.
  21. Re: Brink Of War Exocet is the other overused fantasy font that springs to mind.
  22. Re: The Knife of the Horseman Which would be a lame power. I'd rather define Llawfrodedd's utensil as a teleporting or dancing blade.
  23. Re: The Knife of the Horseman Some googling suggests that there was a custom among the Britons at the time that there could only be one knife at a table. This knife somehow was always at hand whenever somebody wanted it. http://books.google.com/books?id=8-UGAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA1-PA265&lpg=RA1-PA265&dq=Llawfrodedd+knife&source=bl&ots=qRDmmM_lte&sig=sc2glcHvOjAdeE_oujrlPWDG8C8&hl=en&ei=3NOVSbWtOZnMsAP_xPG2Bw&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=10&ct=result#PRA1-PA265,M1
  24. Re: Musings on Random Musings That guy is lucky he didn't wind up on the Darwin Awards site. Wasp stings can be kind of a big deal.
