  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings Well, it's not like I was doing anything else with that soul I had. It just sat there, getting darker every day.
  2. Re: Grand Master of Paek-Tu Hmm.
  3. Re: Advice Required: Indistructible Force Field IIRC Force Field (or any other resistant defenses) do not stop all STUN from killing attacks. So that character will eventually drop if hit hard and often enough, even if no BODY gets through. Also, as far as I'm concerned, that character just volunteered to lead the way into every melee, dark alley, and trap filled corridor. You have encountered the fundamental HERO problem that powers are all costed for supers. Force Field is awfully cheap for a heroic level fantasy campaign. But then again, Suppress and Flash are cheap too.
  4. Re: The cranky thread What is this, retail?
  5. Re: The cranky thread I'd be surprised if Hass came back. He just doesn't have the arm strength or mobility any more, and he's always playing hurt. He has no upside and Whitehurst does. It's too bad because he was a pretty good QB, especially when he had WRs to throw to, but then his team fell apart around him. Rams fans got robbed, but they have a lot to look forward to. Bradford just turned the best rookie QB season since Dan Marino, with a WR corps that looked like a trauma ward. My only concern is that the playcalling sucks, their OC better get a clue in the very near future.
  6. Re: base 5 point stats? problems with that? I've played at this level and had a blast. I recommend that all Hero gamers try it at least once if only for a session. That said, the system can exhibit lots of granularity at this level. You have a lo-med-hi stat system where stats will be 5, 8, or 10. Jumps between DCs will seem pretty big, and there is no bell curve on 1d6k so damage can be really random. Be careful out there.
  7. Re: Musings on Random Musings ...and teh bunneh would know.
  8. Re: The cranky thread Man, I must be losing my edge.
  9. Re: Your favorite SF gear. Actually the Ent-D's computer was described in great detail in the technical manual. It was a triple-redundant quantum core something or other with enough computing power to bring on the heat death of the universe. It just didn't seem to be actually doing anything in particular. Where all Treks really fall down is interface--three hundred years from now, it's just not going to be multitouch control panels and a single big 2D display at the front of the bridge, being used by nonaugmented, practically naked humans.
  10. Re: The cranky thread Whatever I said this time, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it.
  11. Re: A Game Of Questions What is the matter with you people? Can't you see that I'm right here?
  12. Re: Your favorite SF gear. Probably the only thing Cameron missed on was the sheer amount of computing power that I would expect grunts to carry two centuries from now. The motion tracker would be hooked up to the helmet, feeding in to the augmented reality visor along with the infrared, sensor, navigation, comm, and targeting info. The helmet would also contain a vast database of maps, equipment manuals, and other critical information, as well as having a multiple terabit uplink to the command net. The only question I really have is whether there would be direct input to the brain via some kind of plug or induction.
  13. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread The mustache is P, anyway.
  14. Re: A Game Of Questions Hey, anybody miss me? Anything interesting happen in this thread while I was gone?
  15. Re: The cranky thread Should we transfer your brain into a new body? There are lots of bodies around here that need a brain, judging by my experiences while driving.
  16. Re: Conan: The Current Movie in Progress..... I think 3D pays off for certain types of movie, but I doubt if Conan is one.
  17. Re: One Sun, Many Sungods? It also occurs to me that, this being fantasy, you could simply have multiple suns.
  18. Re: Planning Guidance for Response to a Nuclear Detonation Not really, since the document is geared toward agencies that would be tasked with responding to a nuclear detonation. Duck and cover seems limited to this single paragraph:
  19. Re: Your favorite SF gear. No, those were cool. I thought it was awesome that seemingly every grunt carried a plasma torch standard issue, along with the helmet cams, medical telemetry, and motion trackers. Oh, one more Aliens tech: sentry guns.
  20. Re: Musings on Random Musings The spirit of Robert E. Howard lives on.
  21. Re: The cranky thread Bumper triggers. Hooked up to linked heavy rockets. Make sure you come out ahead in any rear end collision.
  22. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. "Ow! Why are you hitting me?!" "Because I love you." "What? You're two years old, you're too young to be practicing your relationship skills."
