  2. Re: "Neat" Pictures 2m = 6'6" so you should be all good there. Depending on your haircut, anyway.
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I am rapidly running out of time and options. I wake up at three in the morning and start thinking, and can't go back to sleep. Then I stagger off to my dead end job and sleepwalk through the day. Repeat as desired.

  5. Re: "Neat" Pictures Maybe not high-rises, but from my visits there I'd say the vast majority of buildings there are at least three stories tall. My first day there I remember staring in awe from the 69th floor observation deck of the Yokohama Landmark Hotel at this urban landscape that literally extended uninterrupted to the horizon and beyond. Even that photo doesn't really do it justice. (I highly recommend the Yokohama Landmark Hotel, btw. It's a five star hotel in Tokyo but we managed to get some surprisingly affordable rates, perhaps because it was February. And it can't be any more expensive now than it was seven years ago. Plus, from the outside, it looks like some sort of corporate supervillain headquarters.)
  6. Re: The cranky thread I'm running Adblock in Firefox (on the Mac) and gmail is working fine. Are you sure it's not some kind of blacklist glitch?
  7. Re: Fantasy Hero Campaign (ala. Space Opera) That wouldn't please the powergamers. You need to include Vulcans, Predators, and androids. And maybe Wookiees.

Re: Alien Jedi's Are there any Wookiee Jedi? Or Sith? It seems like the Dark Side would really suit a short-tempered space sasquatch.
  9. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. Yeah, but what we really want is sex.

  11. Re: "Neat" Pictures Probably a better reason than most. At least you have something to blame besides yourself. I don't have that luxury.
  12. Re: The cranky thread Well, don't infect the rest of us!
  13. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Skyrim agrees with Xav!
  14. Re: The cranky thread Shoulda asked sooner, you could have been one of the scabs they're flying in.
  15. Re: The cranky thread Strike's on. For the foreseeable future I will be driving a phone repair truck 12 hours a day, six days a week.
  16. Re: The cranky thread Pics or it didn't happen.
  17. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread You, apparently.
  18. Re: The cranky thread It may have gone TMI already. Still, I can appreciate a good defecation as well as the next guy. I like the ones that I've held on to a bit too long, so they're really compact and a little hard to get out, but are easy to clean up after.
  19. Re: Lostorum - Looking for input on some races / monsters (hot-climate critters) I see what you did there. For a fantasy game it should be fine. In real life a shootable chameleon-like tongue, twice the body length of the creature possessing it, would tend to droop and/or collapse under its own weight. But even then it's not totally out of the realm of possibility, especially if you postulate some sort of skeletal articulation to help support it.
  20. Re: More space news! Yeah, it's kind of a shame that we get these NEOs and can't see them easily. Why can't asteroids be white?
  21. Re: Musings on Random Musings Aren't they? I haven't been to a high school recently, but the last time I spent time at one, being intellectual was seen as being party to the Establishment and was therefore automatically uncool.
  22. Re: The cranky thread I can always tell mine; they're usually the ones that have a Monday as the first or second day. For example, I spent all afternoon today in an in-person and email debate about whether the sales reps should fill out a particular form, or if that's the engineers' job. There's nothing technical about it, the sales reps just don't want to do it and their new manager* is trying to appease them by revisiting this form issue. It's even more pointless than it sounds, because the entire point of the form is to give the ordering department the information they need in order to assign a part number to a new item. That's right--instead of using the manufacturer's part number, my company employs several people for the sole purpose of assigning different part numbers to them, presumably as an offering to the complexity gods. * The one with the fake eyelashes that look like spiders in her eyes.
