  1. The tech in the OP is very interesting because I know that, for certain types of breaks, it is very difficult to get the bone to grow back together. If you could basically epoxy it back together with something like this it could greatly improve the outlook for people with those kinds of injuries. 3-D printing is flippin' huge in medicine these days. They're printing organs for chrissakes.
  2. Is it the Geminids this weekend, or the Perseids? I can never keep them straight.
  3. Exactly one month from now the date will be 13-13-13.
  4. I think she's aged to the point where she's one of the veterans on the team. Whether that makes her legal or not, I don't know.
  5. If mutants were visually less like and more like or then, let's face it, they would be much easier to hate.
  6. You could have an entire subplot around the players getting involved in the conflict between the trolls and the evil barbarians. Or weather could set in and they could get lost or freeze to death (or both). Or they could meet someone interesting on the way that decides to join the group for a while. It would be nice to foreshadow whatever is going to happen with the heritage. Maybe the trolls have some important information about it, or the players could find an important clue.
  7. Are you kidding? Do you realize I've already had accounts merged with mine that weren't actually sock puppets?

To go off on a tangent, my vision of future hard-SF combat is somewhat similar to that of present-day submarine combat--a perpetual game of cat-and-mouse, trying to keep tabs on where the adversary's vessels are, and when the order is given, the resulting flurry of destruction is brief but intense. (And when I say 'brief' I mean it's going to be played out by computer; I don't expect human reaction times to allow any meaningful meatbag interaction.) I expect the primary weapon systems to be solid-state lasers. These won't be as destructive as kinetic kill vehicles, but would be destructive enough against targets that require sensitive sensors and possibly solar arrays to function, and are near-instantaneous besides.
  9. You laugh, but when they tried to roll out a ferry service here, the airlines and rental car companies pulled out all the stops to get it killed. And they succeeded.

Really? I had him pegged for Lawful Evil. Can someone cast Detect Alignment?
  11. There was a time when I could have answered at least the first three. Now I can only answer the second one (yes). Third one should be easy but I've outright forgotten how to do those. 25%, I fail again!

My kids aren't named Mark. You may be thinking of Markdoc.
  13. Is Cancer going to post the test here for our benefit? It's been a long time since I failed Physics 400. (Actually I got a D, not that it matters. I took the equivalent class from the math department the following semester and it was trivially easy.)

And they also exhibit a strong sensitivity to initial conditions.

That would also help explain what happens when my kid gets his fishing line tangled up.
  17. Do you realize that, one day, you will need to know? How does that knowledge make you feel?
  18. "This box you're looking for, how big is it?" "It's a rectangular box!!"
  19. It is a good suggestion, just keep in mind that (in my experience) +1 STUNx isn't appealing in fantasy games where you're usually trying to kill your adversary.
  20. Isn't American a logical and superior extension to the obsolete language of the English?
  21. I can't answer most of your questions because I wrote that stuff eleven years ago. I think in general I was duplicating the stats out of the 4th ed FH weapons chart and deriving new STR mins for them. One thing I do know is that I consciously avoided trying to have the STR mins come down on the 10-13-15-18 breakpoints. If it turned out that way then fine, but there was already too much pressure in FH to optimize stats on those breakpoints. As a result it was as though there were only four possible values for STR, which got annoying after a few years. The 4th ed weapon chart had breakpoint-itis as well. One thing I wanted to do with this was rebuild the Ninja Hero weapon chart as well and see how things turned out. Never got around to it though.
