The explanation in the article is good enough for me--something in the gel is vaporized during the impact and it diesels when the initial cavity collapses. Hard to say without knowing what they made the gel with though. Regardless, I think I will try to avoid being hit with one of these. The initial cavity is bigger than the entire gel block.

That's intentional. For the trial I sat on in January, the prosecutor had video evidence of the accused beating up one of his "employees". But she declined to press a charge for regular assault (with a one year sentence) as it was covered by one of the sex assault charges (which had a longer sentence). As it happens, we gave the guy a pass on the sex assault charges for lack of evidence, but the sex trafficking charge got him twenty years. Conversely, prosecutors are charging police with capital crimes when they know they won't be found guilty. The textbook example is the Laquan McDonald execution, where Chicago prosecutor Anita Alvarez finally charged office Jason Van Dyke with first degree murder. That looks like a tough charge, but she knows he can get out of it on lack of premeditation or perceived risk to others. He might still be found guilty of a lesser charge, although I doubt it, but police shootings are controversial and the bigger charge has better optics in the press.

Not that kind of box jelly, fortunately. Sea wasps are, of course, Australian. Frankly I don't know if vinegar will save you from a sea wasp sting; it sure as hell didn't seem to do anything for mine.

So it was self defense? I'm not sure that bee stings are supposed to itch. I've stepped on a few, and I put my hand down on one at the beach once. Sore, but not itchy. The one time I got hit by a paper wasp was more sore, but also not itchy. The box jellyfish sting, however, OMFG. It burned for two days and itched like hell for two weeks. Not recommended.

That's not necessarily doomed to fail. GotG is a team movie that did reasonably well with no lead-in films. Of course, GotG also featured a decently written and executed character-driven plot, which I haven't seen from DC for a while.

You misunderstand. AWD is like god mode for driving; if you have it, not only are you immune to all effects of traffic and weather, you are obligated to drive even more recklessly and carelessly, because you are invincible, and screw all those other guys.

I liked Sucker Punch, but if people have to write lengthy articles to try and explain it, then it failed at being coherent or deep. It's one of those movies that especially disappointed because it could have been really good.

Snow White and Aurora are both irritating enough that I'd likely have killed them off in the opening scenes of the campaign, to set the tone. Still, powerwise, Snow White had the ability to speak with animals; Aurora might have learned something from the three fairies who hung around her, or from Philip.

Is there anything worth pillaging in Canada? I understand they are short of butter.
