  1. Re: I can't wrap my head around a.... I've thought of another: Characters who are tactically inept. Gm, "So Big Dumb Brick Boy. The bad guy just steps out of the bank with a bag of loot. What do you do?" Big Dumb Brick Boy, "Eh punch 'em." Eee Gads Roleplaying and the Hero System in particular offer you so many options I find it borders on the criminal not to excercise some of them.
  2. Re: I can't wrap my head around a.... Characters from other genres transplanted into a superhero world. Jedi, Judge Dredd clones, clerics, terminators..even saw an elf once. Ahhh!!!
  3. Re: So the King is a Vampire I was actually planning to make the Republic where my campaign is set desolved by a Vampire a la Star Wars. The PC's inadvertantly brought him back to life by killing someone and spilling blood all over his 600 year old corpse. He is the original vampire of my campaign, all vampire are decended from him. An ancient magi who chased immortality and turned himself into the 1st undead. He also fathered Necromancy as a school of magick and is the most powerful Necromancer the world has ever seen. Plot hooks to get the PC's involved include: a)A feeling of responsibilty for bringing him back to life. b)The fact that they have an amulet which, unbeknownst to them, controls vampires which old Vlad Han von Hannenheim is desperate to get his hands on. c) If all else fails, They will be ordered to sort it out by their boss. edit: He is utterly evil btw.
  4. Re: 'Possess the recently Dead' thought.... There's a few people on these boards whose opinion I really respect when it comes to design using the Hero rules. Dust Raven is one of 'em.
  5. Re: Genre conventions Access to this site is denied http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1037716 If you require access to this site for legitimate business purposes, please contact your Information Security Officer Bugger, it'll have to stay a sword.
  6. Re: Genre conventions I've just read this thread and said, "Eh?" as it flew over my head. Sword to me is: +1 OCV, 1 1/2 d6 HKA, Str min 12, 1.5 handed.
  7. Re: 'Possess the recently Dead' thought.... My work won't let me access that page. I'm guessing that the character is a ghost but can enter corpses and use those bodies to effect the physical world? How is the spirit side written up? With Desolid? Anyway that would seem at first glance to be a workable solution.
  8. Re: Paintball Gun? Pd of small furry animal, 0? Body of small furry animal, 2 or 3? Could it be possible with 1d6?
  9. Re: Blocking Big Objects ^ I was not talking about stuff from fiction. I was talking about the example given, nothing else. Okay, I think I'm done with this thread.
  10. Re: Blocking Big Objects This isn't my example, I'm just using the existing example. The bus which does fill the entire hex would be unblockable for everyone but Ãœberstrong characters in my opinion.
  11. Re: Paintball Gun? The attack would be a physical attack not energy surely?
  12. Re: Paintball Gun? I can't see a paintball gun doing more than 1d6 unless you turned the compressed air up loads. I've taken the odd hit where I got a bruise but with a 2d6 that could be as much as 4 body which would be breaking bones for normal people. Too many trips to ER and paintballing would start to lose it's shine for most people.
  13. Re: Blocking Big Objects That's a good example of the rules being badly applied to fit the special effect. It's the special effet which should be controlling the rules, not the other way round.
  14. Re: Jokes Guys, I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart. For example, one evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me." I said "WHAT????!!! What was that?!" So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear... "You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man." She responded to my puzzled look by saying, "Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?" Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. The very next day I opted to take the day off work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take so I told her we'll just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said lets get a pair for each outfit. We went onto the jewellery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you...she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis. I think I threw her for a loop when I said, "That's fine, honey." She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation she finally said, "I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier." I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No honey, I don't feel like it." Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled "WHAT???!!!" I then said, "Really honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman." And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, "Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?" Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either.
  15. Re: Jokes A charity panto in aid of paranoid schizophrenics ended in chaos yesterday when someone shouted ’he’s behind you!!’
  16. Re: Blocking Big Objects You'll have to explain that one to me.
  17. Re: Blocking Big Objects Oh, and where does it say you have to be able to move something to use the block maneuver? Hero is a special effects driven game, anyone can block any HTH attack and call it what they want.
  18. Re: Blocking Big Objects The pole is about 9 inches thick, Imperial not Hero, and the hex is over 6 foot high. Somewhere in that range Speedyboy can either duck under, step aside or leap over that pole.
  19. Re: Blocking Big Objects ..and Speedyboy can duck under it. I don't see the difference.
  20. Re: Blocking Big Objects The premise is that someone swinging a big stick at you. Are you as a Gm going to allow him to block it? Strictly by the rules you shouldn't be allowed to, you can't block an area effect attack. However, if your GM says it okay to use a block manuever against the big stick why can Powerman block it but not Speedyboy?
  21. Re: Fantasy Hero If you buy one supplement for the Hero System it should be Fantasy Hero. (especially if you play a fantasy campaign)
  22. Re: More Difficult Than Average A voodoo doll with paint. I like it. I would build it with a big VPP personally but it is a nice image.
  23. Re: Floorplans for a Military base? I just put in the only base i know the name of into google earth, Fort bragg but it wasn't at all clear. Hmm.
