Pariah
I know there are no moral victories in the NFL, but a one-score loss to the defending world champions on the road is at least a step in the right direction. By the way, who'd like to see a Saints-Chiefs Super Bowl? Anyone?
unclevlad
Give some credit to the Jets; Gregg Williams has been fired. Apparently also give credit to Derek Carr. He read the blitz and audibled to a 7 man protection. https://www.nfl.com/news/jets-fire-dc-gregg-williams-in-aftermath-of-last-second-loss-to-raiders
unclevlad
GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.......... Steelers game was positioned as strictly a regional game. Just because it's moved to today? That didn't change. UGH. More than likely it's DirecTV that's blocking it; it's available to their subscribers. But that probably means they have the national rights, and would have to agree to any waiver to allow Fox to broadcast it nationally. The fans, as always, are shafted. Pariah
Why Washington at Steelers Monday game won't be available to Fox TV viewers in half the country "NFL broadcast restrictions", whatever that means.
unclevlad
It means it was aligned as a regional broadcast, not a national broadcast. Fox had the right to package it in that manner. Rights to areas outside the designated regional areas were not Fox's; for example, DAZN has them for Canada. DirecTV has Season Ticket and Total Package rights that would be infringed by making the game more broadly available, because the value of their subscription would be (slightly) reduced by that. Contrast that with tomorrow: Ravens-Cowboys was a TNF game. That means it's national OTA on Fox, cable/satellite on NFL Network, and streamed on Prime Video (among others). Those are all still in place. The media rights deals are a VERY complex mess with a lot of different stakeholders. The contractual obligations are still going to hold even when the game's moved to a different day.

unclevlad
My chiropractor pointed out this morning something about the Steeler game. Steelers played Ravens last Wednesday. Washington abused Dallas on Thanksgiving. So Washington had time to rest AND to prep without undue disruption.

Old Man
Now that the season is mostly over, I have decided that the Washington NFL franchise has gone from having the worst team name, to the best. Washington Football Team is self deprecating and even subtly ironic, poking fun at the entire idea of sports fandom with its sheer genericness. unclevlad
Cowboys' rush defense gave up the 2nd most yards in football. BEFORE the game tonight. They become the first team this season to give up over 2000 yards on the ground. The Texans are next at 1811. Even more obscene? After that it's the 1-11 Jags at 1643. So the gap between Dallas and the 3rd worst team is 30 yards a game. EDIT: for comparison, the gap between Dallas and JAX (32 and 30) is basically the same as the gap between JAX and SF (30 and 9)

Badger
We need to have a team sign Antonio Brown and Dez Bryant. Just to see what happens.
Pariah
I figured that with Brady and Gronkowski gone, rooting against the Patriots wouldn't be nearly as much fun. But then they signed Cam Newton... unclevlad
unclevlad
Betting advice just before the game was, take the Rams to cover and take the under. Yeah, they nailed that one. Pats aren't out but now they have to beat Miami and Buffalo back to back. 8-8 looks to have no chance to get into a tiebreaker for the last slot; 9-7 *might* get in, if things break just right. But the Fins have the #2 ranked scoring defense, and the Pats' offense is anemic. Pats are going to have a lot of work to do. I'm sure we all feel terrible about that. <passes Pariah a paper towel to wipe away his crocodile tear....> Pariah

Pariah
I live in the Mountain time zone, home of the Denver Broncos. Oh yeah, the Cardinals are here too. Both teams are playing right now. Naturally we're getting Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota.

unclevlad
Could be worse. My home market is El Paso, which means Fox is showing a Ti-D-Bowl game, Cowboys-Bengals. FiveThrirtyEight has em as 29th and 32nd in the league. Upside is, CBS is showing Chiefs-Fins, which has been insane. Mahomes ran backwards into a 30 yard sack, slightly overthrew a receiver so the ball went off his hands into a tip-pick, AND tried to throw a covered screen pass that turned into another tip-pick. So it's been a strange game. But hey, what's the NFL without its head scratchers...like the Bears have 23 points in the first half??? Trubisky is 15-17 for 143, 2 TDs and no picks? Sayyyy WHAT? 15 first downs. It's not even halftime. Methinks the Texans have pretty much given up.
Badger
If O'Brien was still around he would to make a Watson for Trubisky trade.

Enforcer84
Remember when Genius John Gruden traded away a generational defensive talent for draft picks and everyone was like "well who's doing the drafting?" Good defense there RayRays.

Well OK, but you do realize that NFL Backup QB is on the list of acceptable professions for the federal witness protection program, right?
