Re: A Thread for Random Musings

So it seems I'm becoming a fetish artist.

Recently, my gallery has been getting a little bit more exposure, which is nice. I noticed, however, that some of my pictures that are getting marked as favorites are being saved by fetish collectors. My Velma and Wonder Woman pics specifically are getting saved by BBW lovers, while Velma also gets saved by nerd or glasses lovers. The funniest one occurred today, though. My picture of Monolith of the Elementals has been requested for the art group Homoerotica. :nonp:

After hearing about all the really bad weather and disasters in the past year, I am coming to the conclusion that New Jersey, not on the shore, is the safest place to live, Mother Nature-wise.

Of course, Camden isn't far and it was been the number one most crime city in the country at least once.

"Don't these evangelical conservatives understand? If people continue giving handouts to the Lord, he'll have no incentive to seek gainful employment on his own and will remain a public burden."

Strangely enough, there are plenty of Christian liberals.

But I can recognize an attempt at cleverness.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

There's a physical limit to the brain's capacity for love. You can't "love" everyone, unless you're applying a nearly meaningless definition to the term. You love him as a person? Really? Well, will you sacrifice for him, placing his welfare before your own, or at least making it a top priority? No? Will you be caring for him in his sickness and grief, healing him, being there for him when he needs you? No? Will you be budgeting time for her? Giving up other things you want to do to spend that time with her? No?

So it's the "I enjoy making empty noise" kind of love.

Some people do all that for strangers.

...Oh, sorry, I forgot. They're clearly selfish, since they get personal satisfaction out of it.

Do not assume I doubt the existence of altruism. It's part of healthy brain function, as real as rock. Also, as a friendly reminder, replies to posts in this thread should be posted in Musings on Random Musings.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Over the years the justification for excluding facial hair from police and military service, even when their is a religious or cultural rationale for it, has traditionally been professional appearance and esprit de corps. Its never sat quite right with me. Then, while I was doing some research, I found a photo that underscores my objection to classifying moses beards as unprofessional or lacking elan on some ambiguous level.

That's right, I give you Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, Allen Pinkerton, Union Spymaster, and Major General John A. McClernand at Antiem. Need we start pulling photos of the other leading Generals, who form the bedrock of America's pantheon of war, and whom so many weapons have been named after? Lee, Longstreet, Jackson, Grant, Sherman, et al? True, fashions change, but fashions are trivial and fleeting, as is the basis of the anti-beard bias.
