Vanguard00
Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm so sick of some of the people on this board. Can't anyone let anything go without having to interject some political bullshit diatribe or just plain suck the fun out of things? Screw the lot of you, I say. This ain't fun anymore. Hyper-Man
Re: A Thread for Random Musings I don't smoke. I don't do drugs. I drink at parties and poker games and only 3-4 beers at the later. I only go to about 3-4 parties a year (all hosted by a good friend with a very diverse group of friends). I am usually pretty shy at the beginning of these parties because I have some degree of social anxiety. I compensate with alcohol which is why I don't usually go to bars and such. Unfortunately, I am also highly allergic to cats and the party's host has 4! So of course I have to take something for that. I usually strike a good balance between the medication and alcohol and I am what most have described as a fun drunk. I get out of my shell a little but nothing extreme... I attended one of these parties this past Saturday and drank WAY too much. So much so that to drink any more I would have risked getting a reputation worthy of our own Mightybec. I've known most of these people for several years and I only see most of them at these parties and NecronomiCON. Heck, 10 minutes after arriving at the party I was given an invitation to a wedding and a birthday party. Outside of this board, these ARE my circle friends right now. I feel very foolish and guilty for leading someone on in a way that I absolutely hate if the roles had been reversed.
Hermit
Re: A Thread for Random Musings And thus it was the thing continued to gnaw away at the very fibers of contentment. This THING, this ever feeding thing, born of neurosis and treachery fed even as it festered like a fanged boil within. There was no escaping it really, no sweet balm that would ease it, not even laughter could slay or still it, for the laughter was poisoned by the pain of it, and grew bitter in the throat. It could only be endured second by second for the rest of its prey's life, but then, that was fine by it, for it did not seek to kill... that would ease the suffering, you see. And thus it was the thing continued to gnaw away.
Guest Skaramine
Re: A Thread for Random Musings My new theme song. "Breaking The Habit" Memories consume Like opening the wound I'm picking me apart again You all assume I'm safe here in my room Unless I try to start again [bridge:] I don't want to be the one The battles always choose 'Cause inside I realize That I'm the one confused [Chorus:] I don't know what's worth fighting for Or why I have to scream I don't know why I instigate And say what I don't mean I don't know how I got this way I know it's not alright So I'm breaking the habit I'm breaking the habit Tonight Clutching my cure I tightly lock the door I try to catch my breath again I hurt much more Than anytime before I had no options left again [bridge:] I dont want to be the one The battles always choose 'Cause inside I realize That I'm the one confused [Chorus:] I don't know what's worth fighting for Or why I have to scream I don't know why I instigate And say what I don't mean I don't know how I got this way I'll never be alright So, I'm breaking the habit I'm breaking the habit Tonight [bridge:] I'll paint it on the walls 'Cause I'm the one at fault I'll never fight again And this is how it ends [Chorus:] I don't know what's worth fighting for Or why I have to scream But now I have some clarity to show you what I mean I don't know how I got this way I'll never be alright So, I'm breaking the habit I'm breaking the habit I’m breaking the habit Tonight by Linkin' Park. death tribble
Re: A Thread for Random Musings I spend 4 days just 4 days off the boards and come back to 16 pages of Random Musings on Random Musings, a few pages of Longest Thread and lots of art work from Acroyear. Plus the tail end of WM vs Skaramine now settled thankfully and the great avatar controversy. People relax. The Tribble, your Tribble is back. Now for something completely uncontroversial. Guest Worldmaker
Re: A Thread for Random Musings Well, the bad news is that the timing belt went out on our only car, wrecking the engine. I had to beg the use of my father's pickup truck until we could replace it... which basically meant "after the new year". The good news is that when we called USAA to get the stupid wreck taken off our insurance, the nice lady we spoke to said "Well, because of some emergency-recovery legislation related to Hurricane Charlie, you've got a guaranteed auto loan of up to $8000... we can cut you a check tonight if it would help." The better news is that an hour after hanging up the phone, we were at a Saturn dealership signing for a car. Its used, but only 2 years old (as opposed to the 14 year old piece of shit we were driving). The best news is that after the nice lady at USAA and the nice gentleman at Saturn talked to each other, we got to drive our new car home. Mightybec
Re: A Thread for Random Musings A local news story told of the long 10 month deployment at the Naval base, and how the Navy wives are home alone while thier husbands are at sea. Unfortunately, from personal experience, I know that about half of the wives aren't lonely at all, if you know what I mean.

DocMan
Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm tired. My Brother-in-law's wife gave birth to a daughter last Sunday. Their first child. Ella Mai. Worried about Mage. He had diareaha last week. We took him to the vet hospital. They held him for two days, then told us to take him home. He's still peeing, but he hasn't done anything else. Worried now that he's constipated. If things don't change, we're taking him to the vet tomorrow. Too much to do... Solomon
Re: A Thread for Random Musings Taking something that already sucks and making it even worse, isn't this genius? "I'isola dei famosi" (lit. "Island of the famous") must be the saddest TV show ever. It's basically a Survivor variant, except that instead of ten nameless d*rks you got ten famous d*rks. Well, not quite famous... ex-famous. A mediocre singer who scored a single hit somewhere in the '80s. A dubious actress who started his career doing artsy movies, but was doing soft porn five years later. An aging dancer with a potbelly. And so on. I am amazed by the utter lack of self-respect those people show in shilling themselves to get back an ounce of their former fame. Said fame, to be honest, having never been really impressive to start with. Pathetic.
