Pariah
I'm in my ninth year teaching, and my school district has never declared a snow day in that time. (The reason: We have a lot of kids in the district who receive free and reduced lunches--and sometimes breakfast, too. If the schools close, those kids might not get a decent meal that day.) Cancer
Here they tend to announce closures early, to save the teachers a long nasty and needless commute. (In general, housing is way too expensive in Seattle for teachers to be able to live in the city, so they live Way Out There, and folks in this area seem unable to remember from season to season how to drive in sloppy conditions.) L. Marcus
Just got back from a stroll, and half of the streets in town are closed off for the snow clearing. It is expected to fall about 30 cm, with one meter drifts.

L. Marcus
I do wonder why they closed the schools. They never did that when I was a kid.

Still working on getting some stuff ready for us touring the US in it and since I don't want to start our tour mid-Winter, we'll probably stay near Seattle until early 2018. Pariah
It was pointed out to me today that the Christmas movie "Home Alone" is basically a remake of the Christmas movie "Die Hard" for kids. Cancer
There's a famous waltz, "The Skater's Waltz", that appears often; I know it's been background music for a couple of cartoons. I have been singing the main theme with the repeated lyric, "You have f---ed up," as I grade final exams. Man, I'm glad that's over. EDIT: that main theme starts about 0:22 in tkdguy
