Badger
Tim Tebow, baseball player? (watching a Mets pre-season game) Well, a better baseball player than Michael Jordan. THat's all I give him though.
Starlord
I'll wait and give him a full minor league season before I even give him that.
Badger
Good point. I have heard people talk about Jordan doing better in the Fall Instructional League. Only thing is, Tebow went to it first before playing a season. If I remember Jordan played his .203 AA season first before "tearing it up" in the Fall League to a tune of .252 and ZERO HRs (and a bucketload of Ks, though he did steal some bases)

Old Man
Fantastic headline. The city of Oakland does seem to have dodged a bullet, financially at least.
Michael Hopcroft
Fantastic headline. The city of Oakland does seem to have dodged a bullet, financially at least. At the price of a massive blow to city pride. This is not the first time the Raiders have done this to Oakland, so it shouldn't be all that surprising. But it must still hurt the denizens of the Black Hole immensely. The A's have wanted a new stadium in another part of the Bay Area for a decade -- they share the facility with the Raiders and it is an even more miserable place to play for them. But the crosstown rival San Francisco Giants have frustrated their efforts at every turn. Eventually, they will have no choice but to pull up stakes (for the third time in the franchise's 100+ year history) and settle outside the Bay Area. Maybe this is what the Giants want them to do. My city pride in Las Vegas is not related in any way with the Raiders coming here. Oakland can keep them. I see the stadium project as a huge boondoggle that will end up sucking money meant for other things, like education. And when the Raiders get bored with the stadium, they'll either try to hold us hostage for a new stadium, or will leave town, well before the 30 years it will take to pay off the bonds. Let's put it where it is: the NFL and its teams are not charities, and they should not be using government funds for anything. Interestingly, reading some old baseball magazines in the 1970s, the Athletics were hoping for the Giants' move to Toronto. Of course, the A's were coming off their dynasty (and about to sell everybody for a pez dispenser) while the Giants were going nowhere (though they did have a few promising pitchers that mostly ended up flaming out) and was in the middle of selling the ballclub. THings changed over 40 years in that dynamic.
