unclevlad
29 minutes ago, Lord Liaden said: The SCOTUS was predicated on the conviction that the law must supersede politics. This court has reversed that principle. The most profound and lasting damage Donald Trump has done to America is to poison the credibility of and undermine the people's faith in their most fundamental institutions. It's not Trump, or at least not alone. Trump had nothing to do with refusing to even listen to an Obama Supreme Court nominee, and he alone could never have replaced Ginsburg without the active, eager cooperation of the Senate Republicans. They started the process LONG before Trump hit the stage. What Trump did was to legitimize it through the office and authority of the Presidency. Which is bad enough. Lord Liaden
I agree only in part. Donald Trump is the first prominent U.S. politician to publicly repudiate the legitimacy of election results with no basis in fact, and to actively challenge the peaceful transition of power. Donald Trump is the first POTUS to nominate candidates to the Supreme Court whose very competence to function in the office was highly questionable, purely on the basis of their personal beliefs and avowed support for himself. Trump was the first to unilaterally withdraw America from an unprecedented number of international agreements lawfully negotiated by his predecessors, out of ego and spite. Trump is the first POTUS to publicly lie repeatedly, about the most egregious and easily debunked subjects, and to not care if someone proved he was lying. Yes, American politics before Trump was full of vinegar, but Trump was baking soda poured into it. Pariah and TrickstaPriest

unclevlad
Oh, I'm not defending Trump in the least. His SC nominations could not have passed without active support, tho. Rejecting the election results could have been crushed in November and December of 2020, but wasn't. Trump could've been disavowed after Jan. 6th, but wasn't. The Washington cesspool definitely exists on both ends of the Mall. We need not be parsimonious in assigning blame.

Lawnmower Boy
The other country elects the class bully President. But you can do better! So you elect the class clown to be Prime Minister because you're jealous of all the attention. Old Man
Uvalde refuses to let Highland Park steal its limelight: Uvalde cop asked for permission to shoot gunman but received no reply before the gunman entered the school and opened fire Quote Thirty-two seconds after Ramos entered the school, he entered classroom 111. "Immediately, children's screams could be heard along with numerous gunshots in the classrooms. The rate of fire was initially very rapid then slowed, lasting only a few seconds," the assessment said. Five seconds later, the suspect exited the classroom, stepped into the hallway and then reentered 111. "The suspect then re-enters what appears to be classroom 111 and continues to fire what is estimated to be over 100 rounds by 11:36:04, according to audio analysis. During the shooting, the sounds of children screaming, and crying, could be heard," the assessment said. Lord Liaden
The SCOTUS has agreed to hear a case in October, Moore v. Harper, which has terrifying implications for the future of representative democracy in the United States. What is Moore v. Harper? Experts say the next big Supreme Court case 'could provide the path for election subversion' Broad repercussions are expected from a Supreme Court voting case decision next term
