Michael Hopcroft
Not from the campaigns [proper, but it does give you an idea of how divisive this campaign has become: The maker of the Oculus Rift VR gaming devices has been cited as a major backer of an unofficial campaign designed top spread hate-filled memes about Hillary Clinton everywhere possible (and many places dubiously appropriate). This revelation has led several developers to stop dealing with Oculus until the company's chairman steps down, a move that could cause massive damage to the platform over time if more join in. The Trump campaign is not directly involved, but neither side has complete control over what people who support them but are not affiliated do. Starlord
Eric Trump says his father started with just about nothing. FYI, $1 million was worth about $7 million in 1968.
Lord Liaden
But that article neglects to mention that Donald Trump was made president of his father's real estate company in 1974, and ran it until Fred Trump Sr. died in 1999; at which point the Donald inherited a portion of his father's estate, the size of which he's never disclosed. In any case, if Trump's family are trying to spin their father's business career as making him able to identify with working-class Americans, I would imagine very few of the latter would characterize a million dollars as "almost nothing." CES The criticism from the GOP now is that the CFPB didn't regulate Wells Fargo enough.. After complaining about overregulation ever since it was created. DasBroot
Tonight's debate should use "Watson" from Jeopardy as its moderator. I don't envy the moderator his job - there's no way he comes out of this looking well, no matter what he does.

His followers are some mixture of single-issue voters, Anyone But Hillaries, and the ones based in realities other than our own. There are actual "undecided" voters still, and Frank Luntz said in his focus group, 17 out of 20 thought Clinton won. A lot of pundits are saying it was pretty lopsided for Clinton. You should watch a replay when you get a chance.
Iuz the Evil
Watched it. Clear Clinton win as a debate. Income tax comment, gender issues, and tone didn't help Trump. I agree with CNN. Clinton pushed his buttons with comments on "racist theory", him using "trumped up" info. He reacted and didn't come off looking good. Whether it matters or influences the election, hard to say. Romney won the first debate against Obama. This was a good debate for Clinton. The twitter jokes were funny as well. "I have a good temperament", he shouted. One of the funniest. The one from the Lawrence PD saying drinking games where you drink when a politician says "yuge" leads to binge drinking and they oppose that. Also really funny. Lord Liaden
It's proven exceedingly difficult to judge the wider public's reaction to Donald Trump. He's defied conventional wisdom time and again, which apparently served to get him this far. I think we'll have to wait for a spate of post-debate polls before we can get a firm read of who, if anyone, won the popularity component of the debate. Badger
Not coming back to this discussion except to post this. Interestingly, looking on the internet last few minutes, nearly every pundit=Clinton won. I checked 6 polls online randomly, all 6, Trump won, 4 of which 65% or more. Of course, Trump supporter flooding is possible, but very interesting contrast.
Lord Liaden
One commentator for NBC after the debate pointed out that this campaign has shown the wider public have often perceived the events of the campaign differently than the journalists and politicians have. Old Man
Nightly news shows are avoiding calling a winner either way. There were no knockout soundbites, so all they show is a couple of snipes from either side. As a result neither candidate looks good. Obviously they don't show 45 minutes of flustered whining Trump, or point out any of his inaccuracies.

megaplayboy
Trump interrupted Clinton dozens of times, more or less admitted to paying no taxes, and tried to take credit for "settling" the birther issue.
