Pariah
Drive the road to your surrender Time comes around... out of my hands Small boats on the beach at the dead of night Come and go before first light Leave me running in the wheel King of the world How do you feel? What is there to feel? So how do we now come to be Afraid of sunlight? Tell me girl why you and me Scared of sunlight? Been in pain for so long I can't even say what hurts anymore I will leave you alone I will deny I will leave you to bleed I will leave you with your life So how do we now come to be Afraid of sunlight? Tell me girl why you and me Scared of sunlight? All your spirit rack abuses Come to haunt you back by day All your Byzantine excuses Given time, given you away Don't be surprised when daylight comes To find that memory prick your thumbs You'll tell them where we run to hide I'm already dead It's a matter of time So how do we now come to be Afraid of sunlight How do we now come to be Afraid of sunlight Day-Glo Jesus on the dash Chalk marks on the road ahead Friendly fire in hostile waters Keep the faith Don't lose your head So how do we now come to be? Ternaugh
The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime. You shuffle in gloom of the sickroom And talk to yourself as you die. Life is a short, warm moment And death is a long cold rest. You get your chance to try in the twinkling of an eye: Eighty years, with luck, or even less. So all aboard for the American tour, And maybe you'll make it to the top. And mind how you go, and I can tell you, 'cause I know You may find it hard to get off. You are the angel of death And I am the dead man's son. And he was buried like a mole in a fox hole. And everyone is still in the run. And who is the master of fox hounds? And who says the hunt has begun? And who calls the tune in the courtroom? And who beats the funeral drum? The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime. You shuffle in gloom in the sickroom And talk to yourself till you die. Cancer
You turn the tap-dance into your crusade Now here you are with your faith And your Peter Pan advice You have no scars on your face And you cannot handle pressure All grown up and no place to go Psych one, Psych two What do you know? All your life is Channel 13 Sesame Street What does it mean? I'll tell you what it means Pressure Don't ask for help, you're all alone (Pressure) You'll have to answer to your own (Pressure) I'm sure you have some cosmic rationale Now here you are, in the ninth Two men out and three men on Nowhere to look but inside Where we all respond to pressure
Pariah
I've seen dark before, but not like thisThis is cold, this is empty, this is numbThe life I knew is over, the lights are outHello, darkness, I'm ready to succumb I follow you around, I always haveBut you've gone to a place I cannot findThis grief has a gravity, it pulls me downBut a tiny voice whispers in my mind You are lost, hope is goneBut you must go onAnd do the next right thing Can there be a day beyond this night?I don't know anymore what is trueI can't find my direction, I'm all aloneThe only star that guided me was you How to rise from the floor? But it's not you I'm rising for Just do the next right thingTake a step, step againIt is all that I can to doThe next right thing I won't look too far aheadIt's too much for me to takeBut break it down to this next breath, this next stepThis next choice is one that I can make So I'll walk through this nightStumbling blindly toward the lightAnd do the next right thing And, with it done, what comes then? When it's clear that everything will never be the same againThen I'll make the choice to hear that voiceAnd do the next right thing
Ternaugh
Listen to me,Just hear me out.If I could have your attention?Just quietin' down for a voice in the crowd.I get so confused and I don't understand.I know you feel the same way you've always wanted to say,But you don't get the chance.Just a voice in the crowd. I don't know the score anymore; It's not clear anymore.I can't tell right from wrong anymore;I just don't understand.I was sitting here thinking of exchanging a new world for old;Like changing the channels on TV,Or the dirt that we stand in, to gold. When I was youngMy father told me just bad guys die,At the time just a little white lie.It was one of the first but it hurt me the most,And the truth stung like tears in my eyes; That even the good guys must die. There's no reasoning, no crimes, and I never knew why.Even now, it still makes me cry. If there's somebody up there, could they throw me down a line?Just a little helping hand, just a little understanding.Just some answers to the questions that surround me now.If there's somebody up there, could they throw me down a line?Just a little guiding light to tell wrong from right.Just some answers to the questions that I'm asking you.I keep a vigil in a wilderness of mirrors,Where nothing here is ever what it seems. You stand so close but you never understand it.For all that we see is not all that it seems; am I blind? And you sit there and talk revolution,But can you tell me just who's in command? When you tell me the forces we're fighting,Then I`ll join you and gladly make plans,But for now only our t-shirts cry freedom,And our voices are gagged by our greed. Our minds are harnessed by knowledge,By the hill and the will to succeed,And if that's not what you believe,Would you just let me knowI'm not standing alone,That I'm not just a voice in the crowd? If there's somebody up there, could they throw me down a line?Just a little helping hand, just a little understanding.Just some answers to the questions that I'm asking you.If there's somebody up there, just throw me down a line?Just a little guiding light to tell wrong from right.Just some answers to the questions that I'm asking you.I'll keep a vigil in a wilderness of mirrors,Where nothing is exactly how it seems. You're reaching out, you're so close you can touch it,But it all disappears when it's always so near. But one day, we will find that we stand in the light.Until then, I'll keep a vigil in a wilderness of mirrors.Nothing here is ever what it seems.I'm scared to shout, in case I draw attention from the powersThat preside over our minds and our lives,When they find what I want is the deadliest weapon; that is truth. Day by day it`s getting louder,And day by day it`s getting stronger. But when I can`t scream no more and I need reassurance,I listen to the crowd. And the boy stood and stared at the hill; And the hill - it stared back.
Bazza
Well it’s four am, who knows how far My rope’d run if I hired a car Hit each town, never stayed Left the motel bills unpaid Just defied the way they say things are In my mind I see that final town Outta cash, axles in the ground Lying in a hostel bed No-one there to hold my head Some internal organ breakin’ down

Pariah
Every inch of me is trembling But not from the cold Something is familiar Like a dream I can reach but not quite hold I can sense you there Like a friend I've always known I'm arriving And it feels like I am home I have always been a fortress Cold secrets deep inside You have secrets, too But you don't have to hide Show yourself I'm dying to meet you Show yourself It's your turn Are you the one I've been looking for All of my life? Show yourself I'm ready to learn Ah ah ah ah Ah ah ah ah ah I've never felt so certain All my life I've been torn But I'm here for a reason Could it be the reason I was born? I have always been so different Normal rules did not apply Is this the day? Are you the way I finally find out why? Show yourself I'm no longer trembling Here I am I've come so far You are the answer I've waited for All of my life Oh, show yourself Let me see who you are Come to me now Open your door Don't make me wait One moment more Oh, come to me now Open your door Don't make me wait One moment more Where the north wind meets the sea Ah ah ah ah There's a river Ah ah ah ah Full of memory Come, my darling, homeward bound I am found Show yourself Step into your power Throw yourself Into something new You are the one you've been waiting for All of my life All of your life Oh, show yourself Ah ah ah Ah ah ah Ah ah ah
Pariah
I do have a cause, though. It is obscenity. I'm for it. Thank you. Unfortunately, the civil liberties types who are fighting this issue have to fight it, owing to the nature of the laws, as a matter of freedom of speech and stifling of free expression and so on. But we know what's really involved: Dirty books are fun! That's all there is to it. But you can't get up in a court and say that, I suppose. It's simply a matter of freedom of pleasure, a right which is not guaranteed by the Constitution, unfortunately. Anyway, since people seem to be marching for their causes these days, I have here a march for mine. It's called: Smut! Give me smut and nothing but! A dirty novel I can't shut If it's uncut And unsubt- le I've never quibbled If it was ribald I would devour where others merely nibbled As the judge remarked the day that he acquitted my Aunt Hortense: "To be smut, it must be utterly without redeeming social importance." Por- Nographic pictures I adore Indecent magazines galore I like them more If they're hard coreBring on the obscene movies, murals, postcards, neckties samplers, stained-glass windows, tattoos, anything! More, more, I'm still not satisfied! Stories of tortures Used by debauchers Lurid, licentious, and vile Make me smile Novels that pander To my taste for candor Give me a pleasure sublime Let's face it, I love slime. All books can be indecent books Though recent books are bolder For filth, I'm glad to say, Is in the mind of the beholder When correctly viewed Everything is lewd I could tell you things about Peter Pan, And the Wizard of Oz, there's a dirty old man! I thrill To any book like "Fanny Hill" And I suppose I always will If it is swill And really fil- Thy Who needs a hobby like tennis or philately? I've got a hobby: rereading "Lady Chatterley" But now they're trying to take it all Away from us unless We take a stand, and hand in hand We fight for freedom of the press In other words Smut! I love it! Ah, the adventures of a slut Oh, I'm a market they can't glut I don't know what Compares with smut Hip hip hooray! Let's hear it for the Supreme Court! Don't let them take it away! Greywind
The atmosphere On the streets tonight Is the driving beat Of the world. The word down here On the streets tonight Is the truest music You've heard. So take your share Of the gifts that are there, They all belong to you And, come what may, At the break of each day, We all begin anew once more. We all begin anew Baby, baby, babyLet's investigate The other side of life tonight. The lovers and the fighters And the risks they take Are on the other side of life tonight. Let's lose our way, Go completely astray And find ourselves again. You know the only way to get there Is to take that step To the other side of life tonight.
