Christopher R Taylor
Oh it doesn't have to make sense, it just is a convenient excuse for how everything can be different.
zslane
Oh I wouldn't put it past WB to try and use Flashpoint to do some sort of soft reboot since the one thing they have demonstrated they are really, really good at is spending lots of time and money putting really bad ideas up on the screen. Starlord
The Flash movie isn't even scheduled to release for another 2+ years.
Grailknight
But the Flashpoint premise takes time to set up. At this point . the DECU Flash doesn't have any history or character development. Basing a movie around a character with about 40 minutes of screen time can be done and done well(see Wonder Woman and Black Panther). I don't see how Flashpoint can work without an established history to undo and no motives for the characters. Armory
Greywind
They'll just go back to '78 and reboot all the DC movies except the Adam West Batman. Cassandra

Hugh Neilson
That costume looks pretty true to the comics. Maybe Cheesy, but we complain when the costumes aren't true to the comics too. Besides, he is The Big Red Cheese! Armory and Lord Liaden
Hyper-Man
I hope it is augmented with cgi because I've seen much better fan created versions in the Ross/original style.

Greywind
Nah. Originally, he didn't have a hood. That's a (relatively) new addition to his outfit.
Lord Liaden
I really like the costume. He looks like a superhero, not a soldier with a little color splashed on. Christopher Reeve's outfit was just as "cheesy," but he wore it with great dignity. It's the man under the suit that really sells it. Mind you, I wouldn't wear that costume in public either. But I do not and never will have the body Levi's sporting right now. Christopher R Taylor and Matt the Bruins
zslane
For me the problem is that it looks like a cosplay outfit, especially with the fake muscles, the iron-on lightning bolt patch, and the rigid hood rim. I'm also not a fan of the belt or the bracers. The classic sash and arm wraps would have much more stylish, IMO.

Some things should just remain on the pages of a comic book. Also... interesting idea posted here by an author... Thoughts? Edit: I think there is some merit to this, more from looking at the "most comic-booky" of all the Marvel films... Age of Ultron. Walking out of that movie I was like... "So, this felt like a series of Avengers and single hero issues all building up to a big climax in an Avengers Annual... and it totally didn't work." I kept wanting to like Age of Ultron because I could see exactly how Whedon was bending the three act/five act structure to fit a classic "escalating events in multiple comics leading to big blow out issue" type of thing... but ultimately it fell flat because it lacked a strong narrative flow, just like all those cross-over event comics lack good narratives. Age of Ultron was the current high point of Marvel studios messing with the creators and forcing certain editorial elements/control... which is very much like putting "big event" comic books on the screen. Wrong stories, weak villains, poor universe building, wrong director, completely misreading what people like about the heroes, etc. PS: For Wonder Woman, only weak villain applies from the above. Starlord
Sure. I think the choice works for some and would fail miserably for others. SHAZAM is supposedly a light-hearted affair anyway. He is a child and he owns it with his honesty and sincerity. He's so good, he can even shame Superman and quit the animated JL because of their methods. It would be silly to put him in something like Cap's stealth uniform, just like it would be ridiculous to put Wolverine in his yellow and blue spandex costume and cowl. Christopher R Taylor
They're going to fix this with CGI, aren't they? In a sense. In post-production they will jazz up the costume, right now its just something for him to move around in. Personally I like this approach a lot more, a LOT more than the "segmented armor or leather" approach everyone has been using for decades now. With post they can make it shiny and chromium looking without needing to build that in real life. That will make him look more like a comic book anyway. And yes, they got away from the high collar which is a look I like better but is really awkward to film in real life. Quote just like it would be ridiculous to put Wolverine in his yellow and blue spandex costume and cowl. But his much better brown costume, maybe. Not really. Setting aside the atrocious fake muscles, the design is only generally similar. Either the original look: or the Alex Ross take on it: would have been better IMO.
