Christopher R Taylor
Not bad, the colors are way subdued and they can't seem to help but put complex textures on the costumes, but it works okay I suppose. I'd prefer brighter colors and more shiny fabric myself.
Doc Shadow
I prefer this variant of the costume. So needless to say I'm not happy with the costume. The actress looks too old as well. I've always thought of Supergirl as being in her late teens, at least to start with. She looks about 10 years older than that. Clonus
This Supergirl isn't just starting out. She's reached the point where she is striking out on her own independent of Superman.
Pattern Ghost
The article says she's playing a 24 year old. The actress is 26, so it might be a bit of a stretch, but I have confidence she can pull it off.
Ragitsu
The costume is too dark for a member of the "Super-" family. I could understand grittier/stealthy heroes going for more umbral wear, but not someone who explicitly wants to be a symbol of courage, hope, and self-betterment. Boo, Hollywood! (Then again "quantity over quality" is the primary way of thinking with superhero film/television these days.)
Old Man
I prefer this variant of the costume. I seriously think this version would border on child porn if it were done live action. Miss Benoist successfully played a high schooler on Glee so I'm pretty sure she could pull off young. For a while. Before the inevitable facelifts and implants take their toll. This is Hollywood, after all. Trencher
Enforcer84
it's a bit dark and muddy, but hey I'm fine with more superhero shows. I'm by and large FAR more forgiving of Hollywood's treatment of superheroes than I am of the treatment they get at their own comic book companies. Go figure. bigbywolfe and Pattern Ghost
slikmar
It looks a lot like the costume from Man of Steel in color, which makes sense to me. If this were on CW, you would get teen Supergirl, I wager. On CBS, you get adult, serious Kara. bigbywolfe

Pattern Ghost
The part of the skirt in direct light looks considerably brighter. The whole thing may look better on screen. This is a dark pic. Enforcer84

Roter Baron
She looks like Batman's little sister dressed by the Joker to make Supes angry ... nah, I don't like theses "subdued" colors at all. I want bright colors. Ragitsu

I want bright colors. I'm with you that i dislike the subdued colours ala Man of Steel. However for practical reasons can see why a person would use them with a superhero costume. Namely after a hard day of superheroing all that dust, dirt, blood, grime etc, the subdued colours would hide it better.

Greywind
At least her emblem is flat in comparison to Returns or Man of Steel.

Don't even enter the territory of "realism" - we speak about a bulletproof girl that is super-strong, can fly and can look thru wall (with and without superhot eye-beams) because she hails from an exploded planet. If you are capable of excepting that then there is no reason not to accept that she wears a stainless, super-bright dress that can get dusty but *OHMYGAWD* does not even stain when some jerk spills red wine on it at a party. That is why this GIRL is SUPER! Ragitsu
Christopher R Taylor
I agree, they should be more willing to push the boundaries a bit in terms of visuals than going with the "this looks realistic" stuff. The bright, amazing colors and designs are part of the genre, and they're a uniform of sorts: when you see that costume, and its hard to miss, you know something wonderful is happening. Its like Mr Incredible picking up his car in front of the little boy on the tricycle. Don't shy away from that. Ragitsu
zslane
I seriously think this version would border on child porn if it were done live action. I dunno about that. That comic book costume looks no different to me than any high school cheerleader outfit in the country. Add to that the fact that this particular Supergirl is in her mid-20s--it wouldn't be child porn even if she flew around naked. The whole muted color palette for superhero costumes thing has just got to go. It is tedious in its ubiquitousness, disappointing in its creative sterility, and dismissive of its genre roots. aylwin13, Christopher R Taylor and Ragitsu
