Cassandra
United Nations Law Enforcement & Security Service [uNLESS] UNLESS was founded in the 1960s during the Presidency of John F. Kennedy shortly after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon discovering that a supervillain known as the Mastermind had attempted to spark a nuclear war both the United States and the Soviet Union decided to form an international anti-supervillain organization. The United Kingdom and France quickly joined it's American ally, and in exchange for joining Russia managed to get Red China membership in the organization despite it not being a member of the United Nations at the time. All five nations make up the UNLESS Advisory Council, with another seven members of the United Nations chosen at random for month long service on the council. Agents are recruited from all member nations of the United Nations, and Red China, but the bulk of operatives come from the five main members of the Advisory Council. The main enemy of UNLESS is known as The Fifth Column, which started out as a combined Axis Espionage and Sabotage organization before World War Two. The organization was taken over by the Soviet Union after the war, but they soon lost control of it in the late 1950s. It was a pro-Red Chinese faction of the Fifth Column that attempted to start a nuclear war between the United States and Soviet Union with the help of the Mastermind. The last known leader of the Fifth Column was a German Diplomat and Spy Master known as Edmund F. Draecker, who disappeared after the Second World War. It had been confirmed from a number of Intelligence sources and Draecker is not the Mastermind. The Mastermind is a shadowy villain who controls a number of different organizations and supervillain teams under a variety of identities. No one knows who he (or she) is, if they have powers, or if they are simply a skilled manipulator. There is a theory among UNLESS agents that the Mastermind is actually an organization within the Fifth Column. Unknown to UNLESS this theory is false. UNLESS is divided into to Organizations, Law Enforcement, and Security. Law Enforcement handles investigations and undercover work, and Security any assaults on enemy bases. The organization does not have it's own organic transport service, and instead relies on the military airlift command of various United Nations members to get where it needs to go. There are two basic types of UNLESS Agents. Field Agents operate in Teams of 4, Commanded by a Special Agent.
