Teleport question

Reading over teleport and trying to use it in play for long range non-combat teleports, it has come up that you need to perceive your location or you must make a roll to hit the area and are at normal range penalties. What the use of any sort of long range teleport as you are most likely to never be able to hit a target a mile away?

One example would be the mage who happens to know a scrying spell (targeting for teleports) but didn't prepare it ahead of time and needs to get the party somewhere quick (like away from the current bad guys).  Somewhere could be a city so he targets the city center.  Adjust from that by how much his missed his perception roll and roll and in a random direction and there you go.

*This works best if the Teleportation is built with the Safe Blind Teleport Advantage.

It's worth noting that from a storytelling perspective a really accurate long range Teleportation ability would be a major plot busting ability.

Fixed locations would make long range teleporting a certainty.  In the 1970s the Justice League of America had teleport pads in all major cities, and from there the heroes would move under their own powers.

Floating locations can also be used in certain circumstances along these lines.

Teleportation needs to have a not only Safe Blind Teleport, but also Can be scaled down (+1/4) for any Megascale advantage.  If you had Megascale 1000km (+1) with Can Be Scaled Down (+1/4), you could make a series of "jump" allowing you to get close enough to the target to engage in tactical maneuvers and combat.

My character Blip can create portals to view through (n-ray and lots of telescopic to find a location and then set a floating location

or she ports high like a mile and skydives down using"no relative velocity" to not splat if she need it quick and dirty

Also blind safe is useful

Yeah, my character uses safe blind teleport. As for the use it was strictly non-combat to just to return someone home.

As for Nightcrawler note above, it may be true he was unsure if he go that far, knowing if you can go a certain distance is not quite the same as knowing you can go that distance but can't go there because you can't see it. I don't recall Nightcrawler having any extra long distance sensory perceptions, but he could go 2-3 miles, depending on direction.
