NuSoardGraphite
http://www.eksobionics.com/ekso We all know about the HULC: a breakdown of Exo-suits "in development": Video of the Japanese Exo-suit: https://plus.google.com/+jlilly/posts/9PkS3p7SRvv Scar-face guy is creepy. Looks like it might be a promotion for something. Likely not a real suit.

Zeropoint
Landmate not too far off in the distance! If they come with a pilot like that, I'll be more than happy to pay the $5k.
Zeropoint
After reflecting on that last post for a while, I feel like I should apologize; it makes a woman sound like something to be bought and sold. That's not right.

Zeropoint
There's a disturbingly huge amount of sexism and misogyny in geekdom. I'm trying to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

That's not right. We know you formulated your post, tongue firmly planted in cheek. Don't let political correctness get in the way of a perfectly good sexist joke. Lord Liaden
I sometimes feel that the Japanese, as a culture, really, really want their manga/anime concepts to come to life. Some of what they come up with is practical and useful, but I believe they do a lot of it just because it's cool.

tkdguy
Why bother with exoskeletons when we can have robot warriors instead? http://finance.yahoo.com/news/robots-replace-troops-battlefield-111500084.html
BlueCloud2k2
So has anyone else noticed that Google has been buying up small robotics companies and has built a walking robot? Does anyone else feel a Rise of the Machines coming?
tkdguy
Not for a while. I don't see that whole robot warrior thing becoming reality in the near future.
Spence
So, not actually a self guided robot. They are remotely controlled drones. I never accepted the cop-out of calling something that has to be remotely controlled in real time a robot. A robot can receive a general instruction, but can implement its own plan to achieve the goal. You give the instruction and then do something else while the robot does its thing. BlueCloud2k2
It sounds like the army is working something more along the lines of Surrogates than Battle Droids.

If it's remotely controlled, then it's a drone. If it's working on its own programming without external control, then it's a robot.
BlueCloud2k2
Yeah but battle drone doesn't sound quite as catchy as Battle Droid.
