wcw43921
Saw this posted on another message board and thought I'd pass it along. I don't know about you, but these photos make me want to "dungeon-crawl" through a dimly-lit dilapidated apartment building with a snub-nosed .38 looking for murder suspects. John T
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s From the jackets worn by several of the detectives, I was thinking more Starsky and Hutch.
wcw43921
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s Someone in the Comments section for that page mentioned Hill Street Blues. Don't know about Starsky & Hutch--to my mind, New York City does not lend itself well to high-speed car chases, The French Connection not withstanding. Old Man
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s From the jackets worn by several of the detectives' date=' I was thinking more [i']Starsky and Hutch[/i]. Yeah, every time I see movies or TV shows set in the '70s, I think the costumes are ridiculous parodies--and then I see actual photos from then. Even the sideburns in these pictures are ludicrous. mattingly
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s There was a great mystery spoof called Murder By Death, in which Truman Capote called all the greatest detectives in the world to solve a murder that he was bout to commit. There was a lesser known sequel to that movie, called Murder Can Hurt You, that starred all of the '70s TV cops. Studsky and Hatch, Salty the Police Girl, McSky, Leadbottom, and others sought to capture the mysterious Man In White. '70s copness in full glory. Pretty funny stuff.

Makes sense, really. That film used to show up on infrequently on late night TV in my neck of the woods. Silly in a good way.
LordGhee
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s Look at the cops belts! Old Man
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s I think some real cops would be thrilled if that's all they had to carry. I sometimes wonder how they can move with all that junk hanging from their belts, let alone run around apprehending criminals that don't want to be apprehended. Laundry Knight
Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s I'm old enough to remember a lot of 70's police movies and TV shows; so, I relate more to Dirty Harry, S.W.A.T., and Starsky and Hutch, and for sardonic humor, Barney Miller than I do with Hill Street Blues. I think a 70's cop game would be interesting.
