Background: No one knows who the serial killer known as The Professor really is. He first came to the attention of authorities when he captured a young supehero and transfered some of his powers into himself. The hero was saved by a teammate, and the investigation revealed that the man everyone regarded as a kindly psychology professor was actually a mass murder. He would target a single male college professor about to move to another position across the country, learn everything about him, and replace him after kidnapping and torturing the individual for any useful information. Because of a strong belief that the world was overpopulated, The Professor believed that his elimination of unimportant and uneducated people was a service to the planet. This was just an excuse for kidnapping and torturing athletes and attractive women. He developed a hatred of superheroes because they saved lives, and he subconsciously recognized they were superior to him. Despite the ability to transform into the much stronger Rampage, he is reluctant to because he loses his skills and intellect in the process.

Powers: The Professor is a very healthy, ordinary looking man who presents himself with a great deal of charm and intelligence. He can act perfectly normal, and uses his skills to get close to his victims. The Professor will put on a disguise, and wait for his victim where he knows they will be after a long study, and then attack. If the victim is male he will render them unconscious with a blow from behind, and then slit their throat. If the victim is female he will chloroform them, cuff them, and take them to a secluded spot so the victim can beg before being finished off.

Because fo the knowledge he has gather over the years from many victims, The Professor has the ability to fashion all sorts of weapons and devices given enough time. He can not do this under stress, needed time to plan out what he needs to do, and gather materials. For example he built a trap to capture a superhero and drain off his powers. Given enough time he will be able to create what he needs unless constantly watched.

Appearance: The Professor is an ordinary looking man who seems to be in his mid-thirties. He changes his appearance often.

Background: The Professor drained the energy from a captured superhero, and it transformed him into the superstrong Rampage. He was disappointed to lose in skills and intellect, and went on a rampage, thus gaining his name. As Rampage he hates losing his strength by returing to his normal form. He retains The Professor's general contempt for humanity and his sadism, and is wildly overconfident.

Powers: Ramage is superhumanly strong, and resistant to physical damage. Do the a flaw in the transfer process, he is vulnerable to energy attacks of all kinds. He won't transform back into The Professor under most circumstances, but will change back is knocked unconscious. Rampage loves ripping things apart, including human beings.

Appearance: Rampage is a handsome well built man in his mid-twenties. He doesn't wear any sort of costume, instead choosing atheletic wear to show off his muscles.

Background: Laura Lockhart was a famous aviator who was flying around the world when she discovered a hidden Axis airbase. A fighter was dispatched to shoot her down, but she managed to avoid it until both planes flew over a mysterious island. The island was the realm of the Ancients, and they judged the two visitors from the modern world. Laura was judge to have a good heart and a pure mind, and the Nazi pilot was considered arrogant, cruel, and perverse. The Ancients granted Laura superhuman powers to battle the forces of evil as Lady Liberty.

Powers: Lady Liberty was given superhuman strength and resiliancy by the Ancients. While not invulnerable on her own, she is durable, and can survive temperature extremes, and her aging process is slowed down considerably. She was given three magic items of great power. A magic torch that legs her control three forms of light, red that blast things, white that allows her to control minds, and blue that puts people to sleep. A magic book shaped shield which protects her, and that she had become so adept at using it increase her dexterity. And a pair of magic sandals that allow her the ability to fly faster then the speed of sound. Laura Lockhart is an expert pilot, financially well off, speaks fluent french, is knowledgable about the aviation industry, and is a native of New York City. Many villains think her crown is the source of her superhuman strenght (this is based on a famous episode of a superheroine based television series from the 1970s), and while it is not, it does have a radio built in, and keeps her hair out of her eyes.

Appearance: Laura Anne Lockhart is a tall, shapely woman who appears in her mid-thirties. She has brown eyes and red hair. Laura normally can be found in a flight suit, but also likes wearing business suits and little black dresses that show off her legs. Because she wears sandals as part of her costume she rarely wears them as part of her normal wardrobe. As Lady Liberty she wears a white off the shoulder gown, with a red, white, and blue streamer with a golden cord hanging off the shoulder. The gown does down to just above her ankles. Her torch, crown, book shield, and belt are all gold.

Current Status: Active member of the United Superheroes of America, based out of New York City. Married of General James Davenport, USAF. One daughter by him, DiDi Davenport, who is currently a superheroine known as Liberty Damsel operating out of Los Angeles. Note that DiDi is not her real first name, and both her parents have been sworn to never reveal it.

Known Enemies: Countess Claudia von Kruel and the Fifth Column are a subversive organization that started as an Axis organization, then the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and now is purely mercenary. The Countess also ages very slowly due to an unknown process. The Forces of Evil are a group of minor league villains who band together to try and commit some spectacular crime, but do the the efforts of the United Superheroes of America are kept at a low level of powers. The Leopard is another unaging villainess who enjoys battlingly Lady Liberty for the pure enjoyment of trapping the Living Spirit of Liberty.

Notes: I keep re-oing some of my characters, and Lady Liberty is one of my favorites. Conceptually this characters answers the question What would have happened is Amelia Earhart landed on Paradise Island?

Background: Nathan Hale Masters was a U.S. Army officer who was chosen for an experimental training program designed to produce a soldier capable of fighting supervillains. After months of hard work he completed training, and was transfered to the Crisis Response, Intelligence, Security and Investigation Service [CRISIS], the U.S. Government's organization dealing with supercriminals. To Nathan's disapointment, he was not given a high ranking position in that organization, and was assigned to a team of the United Superheroes of America as their liasion under the code name Patriot. While he served well, Nathan craved promotion and chaffed serving under civilians even if they had more experience and power. Becoming cynical about his circumstances, he soon became interested in internationism, and was soon convinced that such a system would reward outstanding individuals such as himself. As soon as his tour was up Nathan left the Army and offered his services to the United Nations Law Enforcement & Security Service [uNLESS] under the new more appropriate code name Expatriate.

Powers: Expatriate was trained by several experienced crime fighters (who wore Army uniforms during his training) in advanced combat and infiltration techniques. He is so skilled at stealth and concealment he is practically invisible normal sight and hearing. The shield he was given allows him to throw it for a ranged attack, as well as a hand to hand attack in addition to protecting him from physical and energy attacks. Trained in tactics and teamwork, as well as leadership, he was given a motorcycle for quick transportation.

Appearance: Nathan is a tall, blond hair, blue eyes well built man in his early thirties. Originally his costume was red, white, and blue, and his shield was blue with a single white star in the middle. Now his costume is United Nation's blue, and trimmed in white, and his shield is U.N. blue as well, with that organizations symbol in the middle of the shield.

Personality: Expatriate is a cynical man who grasped onto internationalism as something to believe in. While he is currently willing to follow UNLESS orders, if they should not feed his ego to the level he expects he will turn on them as well, eventually becoming a mercenary.

Background: DiDi Davenport is the daughter of USAF General James Davenport, and the supeheroine Lady Liberty [Laura Lockhart]. Born on April 19, 1982 (the 40th Anniversary of her father's famous raid on Tokyo) and grew up at various military bases around the world, and was a bit of a tomboy growing up. At the age of fifteen DiDi gained her powers, and was sent to the Academy, a private school in the Los Angeles ares that was secretly run by the United Superheroes of America. The Academy allowed DiDi to learn about her powers, as well as get an education. She met John Taylor, another second generation superhero, and they began a tenative romance there. At the age of 18 she decided to begin her superheroine career, originally known as Liberty Damsel. Now, ten years later she is one of the most respected of the new generation of superheroes working today. She currently works as a writer, and is working on an alternate history novel where superhumans never existed.

Powers: Liberty as superhuman strength and is very resiliant, though not invulnerable. Her powers are part of her, and her torch, shield, and sandals are merely symbolic represenations of her power. Unlike her mother, Liberty can use her powers without them. Her crown is a high technology version of her mother's radio, capable of broadcasting and recording visual and audio signals.

Appearance: DiDi Davenport is an attractive young woman, who at 5'6", and proudly says she is an "all muscle" 150lbs. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, but doesn't concentrate much on enhancing her looks with make up, a habit that began in her tomboy years. DiDi dresses casually, rarely wearing dresses or sandals in her "normal" life, but she does wear high heels because she secretly thinks she is short. Her costume is a blue gown like dress that does down to just below the knees, gold sandals, crown, shield, and torch. Physically resembles actress Eliza Coupe.

Personality: DiDi Davenport as been described as "Chloe O'Brien with Wonder Woman's powers". It is a characterization that DiDi admits is closer to the truth then she'd like to believe. The daughter of an Air Force General and War Hero, DiDi came to realize at an early age that sacrifices were sometimes necessary for the greater good. She at one time wanted to go to the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, but her superhero activities meant that she would never be able to give such a life the attention it required. DiDi is very intelligent, and is somewhat embarrassed that she was only a B student, again because she spent so many of her college nights saving the city/country/world. A natural leader, she'll take charge of any situation when necessary, but will follow orders as well. Her father has been known to call on her services, and DiDi does have a professional relationship with LAPD Lt. Sherry West. DiDi is in a romance with John Taylor, the Stalwart, who is another of the second generation superheroes.

Quirks: DiDi is not her real name. Her parents have been sworn to secreracy about her real full name, which has been the cause of much speculation in the superhero community. Growing up she has a pet tarantula named Leopold, but to this day thinks butterflies are "creepy." She believes that she has a number of physical flaws, among them her feet are too big (Size 8), and that her skull is "cat-shaped". DiDi has lovely given John Taylor a number of ironic nicknames such as "Playboy", "Cheapskate", and "Showoff". Even he doesn't know her real name, telling him that he'll learn it when the minister asks if she'll take John hand in marrage. DiDi was partially kidding, partially hopeful at that remark.

Current Activities: Recently DiDi was having lunch with her father in Washington, D.C., when a sudden incursion by a trio of aliens threatened the White House. As Liberty she intercepted the trio, and met . . .

Background: Aurora has no idea who or what she really is. She grew up on the technologically advanced planet known as Argon, in a star system about 40 light years from Earth. She was told that she had been found in a alien space craft that had crash landed when she was a baby. The Argonians, who themselves were brought to that world by a long forgotton alien, discovered that Aurora had physical powers beyond anyone on their world. Since the spacecraft was on inferior technology, however, she was considered less advanced then others on Argon. As the planet was a clean, safe, technological utopia, there was no need for someone with her powers, and she spent her days exploring the universe.

One day the Argonian scientist picked up a strange weak radio transmission, revealing another human civilization with inferior technology. Naturally they had no interest in it, but Aurora decided to visit. Two members of the Argonian military, Maximus, and Brutus, offered to go with her, and although they were as looked down upon Argonian society as much as she was (their planet was defended by the Null Field, which made the world literally untouchable by any invader), Aurora gladly accepted the company.

After dragging them through hyperspace they arrived at Earth, and headed to Washington, D.C. to make first contact. They were confronted by a blonde woman who was flying above the White House, who identified herself as Liberty. Before Aurora could introduce herself she was shocked when Maximus demanded the surrender of the planet to him. When Aurora objected she was told by Brutus that as a woman she her opinion had no value.

To this day Aurora claims she doesn't remember striking Brutus so hard that he was instantly knocked unconscious despite the powered armor her wore. Before he could hit the ground and crash into a bus loaded with innocent people, she swooped down and surrendered to General James Davenport, while Liberty dealt with the vulnerable to magic Maximus. Aurora apoligized for her actions, and offered to do anything to make up for bring to evil invaders to Earth. The USAF decided to put her in Liberty's custody, who would teach her to become the superheroine she always wanted.

Powers: Aurora has the ability to channel energy into various ways, allowing her to shoot thermal beams out of her eyes, blow freezing cold breath, use incredible superhuman strength, or fly at faster then light speeds. Her natural physiology is far superior to human, and she can survive in space for prolonged periods. She does have a susceptibility to radioactive meteorites, but they do not affect her powers at all. Because she grew up on a technological utopia Aurora doesn't believe in magic, and while vulnerable, is too polite to express her belief in public.

Personality: Aurora is a very intelligent young woman who brings a vast knowledge of the universe with her, making her an asset to the U.S. Space program. Because her training is with far more technological advanced equipment, her skills are someone limited, but she has managed to get a consulting job at NASA. She is sweet, polite, and curious about the World, and human society. Aurora loves being a superheroine, and is very loyal to Liberty.

Appearance: Aurora is 5'10", 160 lbs., with black hair and blue eyes. Her current costume is a black bodysuit and boots. Because the transmissions received on Argon were forty years out of date, she learn english from episodes of The Avengers and speaks with a british accent.

Re: Original Characters

I'm sorry for any confusion regarding the format change. I went back to the traditional method. I took a bit of a leave and used the left hand column in my building character to keep track of characteristics, skills, and powers cost.

For those of you who have guessed it already, Aurora is loosely based on Ursa from Superman 2. I need to redo her multipower a bit.

Background: Wendy Anderson was a beautiful Washington, D.C. debutante who met a dashing young man at a party. He seduced her, and then next day disappeared from her life. Nine months later she gave birth to a daughter, Gwen. As her daugher grew up, Wendy noticed that she was stronger and tougher then before, and didn't seem to age much. By the time Gwen entered college, Wendy was a true superhuman, and after Pearl Harbor began a career as a superheroine, American Woman. Her daughter also had simular powers, and joined her as American Girl.

Wendy's family was politically connected, and she worked with U.S. Intelligence officer Kilroy, and British Intelligence operative J. Hamilton Forby. Her main enemies were a woman claiming to be Mata Hair, and German diplomat and spy master Edmund F. Draecker. One day ran into the dashing young man, who revealed himself to be Zeus, King of the Greek Pantheon. He revealed that Gwen gained her powers because she was half Olympian, and that by carrying her Wendy received them as well. While Zeus was impressed by Wendy and Gwen, neither of them were interested in having a relationship with him.

Hera, Zeus' wife, met Wendy, and questioned her about what happened between them. She accepted Wendy's word that the young woman had no idea that Zeus was who he was (it wasn't the first time he has strayed), but Hera is keeping an eye on her just in case. Zeus has a thing for heroic women.

As neither Wendy or Gwen age, they are still active in the superhero community today. Those who know them refer to them as the "Girlmore Girl of Superheroines". It is a characterization neither has a problem with.

Appearance: Both Wendy and Gwen are tall, well built women with black hair and blue eyes. Wendy appears to be in her early thirties, and Gwen looks about nineteen. Both wear a red, white, and blue leotard, and red boots.

Powers: American Woman and American Girl have simular powers. They both can press 25 tons, and are very durable, able to survive in exteme temperatures. Each can leap over a hundred feet in a combat situation, and can run over sixty miles an hour.

Background: The United Nations Law Enforcement & Security Service (UNLESS) was created in the early 1960's at the behest of an idealistic young American President. The goal was to create a force that would battle the growing international supervillain menace through cooperation. The organization enjoyed cooperation with the American superhero community until the 1970's when UNLESS began to use international law against them at the urging of the Soviet Union and Communist China. Recently the organzation has been the center of corruption charges, with regional UNLESS offices being used as mercenaries.
