opus88
Is there a plan to reproduce the Hero Dice? I see them everywhere as "out of stock" items. I'm planning on playing Champions since I last played (1st Edition ...long ago) and I'm searching for dice to go with my campaign.
Ternaugh
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. I believe that the plan is to produce new dice in the 6th Ed colors. If it's like past runs, the dice will be put into production when resources permit, with an announcement of when they'll be available for order or purchase at a Con. JoeG And when they get announced as available, I DO NOT recommend waiting for a Convention to buy them, the last batch sold out from Hero very very quickly. If you look around the forum' date=' Steve or Darren mentioned that dice will be done in the 6e colors. I forget the timeline though.[/quote'] Can't wait. It would be nice to have dice that are a different color than the rest of the folk. One of the players in our game gave us all Hero Dice as a Christmas present one year. It became complicated when we all tried to use them at games together. I would love to have a set of Blue with Yellow lettering. I'll have to buy enough sets to get at least 24D6s which covers pushed haymakers and the inevitable cat theft (straight under the sofa...). Steve Long
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. Yes, we do plan to get some new dice made, in 6E blue-and-gold. However, I can't tell you for sure when it's going to happen. The difficulty with it is that these dice are, like most anything made of plastic these days, manufactured in China, and we have to pay for them in advance, and it takes 4-6 months to get them. So we have to be willing and able to lock up that money and have it do nothing for us for 4-6 months, and that's a tricky thing for a small business. But believe me, we want to get it done, and we'll be sure to let you know when it's all in the works.
yamamura
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. I know Chessex does custom dice but I am guessing they are too expensive.
Ternaugh
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. The best that I see on the Chessex custom dice site is $0.42 per customized side in quantities less than 1000 dice (they say to call for a quote for more dice). Even estimating 40 cents per side, we're looking at $2.40 per die--before markup. I know that there are several of us who would be willing to preorder sets (I'm interested in about 4 sets, myself), though I'm not certain that Hero wants to go to the trouble of arranging that, given some of the issues with preorders in the past. Susano
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. I have something like 30d6 of the Black and Green... but I'd pony up for 12-24d6 of Blue and Yellow.

Steve Long
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. The custom laser-etched dice that Chessex and many other manufacturers offer are too expensive for us to buy in bulk; we have to stick with traditional methods of manufacture. I have this sudden image of a whole line of stone cutters bent over really small cubes.... Now, if someone had stupid levels of cash to throw at the problem, I'd love to see Hero Dice made to look like casino dice, with translucent blue instead of red, and yellow pips instead of white. Now' date=' if someone had stupid levels of cash to throw at the problem, I'd love to see Hero Dice made to look like casino dice, with translucent blue instead of red, and yellow pips instead of white.[/quote'] That might be cheaper than custom dice. Blue dice (with white pips) are readily available. Changing the color of the pips shouldn't be too expensive. Having the BODY pips in a different color would be an interesting variation. (The existing Hero dice might have that already, but I don't own any.)
mattingly
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. That is indeed an interesting idea, and possibly more affordable. Instead of etching extra BODY dots on five sides of the die, just color one (or two) of those pips differently.

Under numbers 2-5 there was a single dot, under the 6 there were two.

Now, if someone had stupid levels of cash to throw at the problem, I'd love to see Hero Dice made to look like casino dice, with translucent blue instead of red, and yellow pips instead of white. I've found a spot online that makes them for $5 per pair, with a $175 set up fee. No idea if they could do variable color spots (probably not). These are for the razor edge dice, which also tend to wear really poorly. The same site has "casino style dice", which re made out of a harder plastic, and they start at $0.72 per die in quantities of 10,000 or more, plus setup costs per side of customization. If these are like some of the souvenir dice that I find in the gift shops locally, they have a tendency of wearing off the ink in the grooves of the imprint. http://www.kardwell.com/dice-promotional.htm And we're not talking markup here for DOJ's expenses or profit. I, for one, would gladly wait for DOJ to contract for dice of the same quality as the old Hero dice. JoeG
FreeDice
Re: Hero Dice ...collector's item, but still in demand. FWIW, I would totally buy a whole bunch of these. That being said, Steve - you can't change how Body damage work in 7th Edition. That would be unfair.

Maybe Game Science could be talked into a "Hero" set.....I'd buy the hell out of another set of HERO dice.....We All Like Dice. One thing I learned in decades of pushing White Wolf product on the demo's and convention events. Players LIKE Dice. Little bag of Dice goes a long way. ~Rex.....huge Game Science Dice Fan....
