For the first time, researchers have controlled the movements of free-flying insects from afar, as if they were tiny remote-controlled aircraft.

 

By connecting electrodes and radio antennas to the nervous systems of beetles, the researchers were able to make them take off, dive and turn on command.

I agree. We're implanting electrodes into the brains of other creatures to control them. Even if they are "just beetles' date='" there's a cold-bloodedness to this research that I find disturbing.[/quote']

 

How long before the same thing can be done to a human being, and when would the devices be small enough that they would be entirely internal after surgery? :nonp:
