Kamarathin: Magic items

Re: Kamarathin: Magic items

Well, as designed, I don't allow players to have magical items. At least none that are permanently enchanted.

Heirloom weapons would simply be of exceptional quality and/or grant PRE bonus due to their history and recognition.

The reason there are no magical item templates in the book is because they are so exceptionally rare and desired that kings would send their nations out to acquire one. A PC with a magical item (particularly one that can be used for war) would find himself quickly wondering if all of the attempts at assassination, thefts, kidnapping, bribes, etc. are really worth keeping this thing around.

Like monsters, truly magical items are things of myth and legend. They do exist, but are slightly less rare than the Hope Diamond. They are all named and they all have a detailed and wonderful history. This is not a land of +1 longswords. ;)

Now, that being said, how you want to utilize magic items in your games will be completely up to you.

Hmm' date=' that is a point. I'll discuss it with him.[/quote']

One possibility if the player wants m4d l33t sk1llz is suggest instead of a magic sword, that he buy fighting tricks instead. In my current FH game there's a grand total of zero (0) magic weapons in play, after going on 4 years of gaming: but pretty much all of the characters have m4d l33t sk1llz of one sort or another.

cheers, Mark
