Theron
Re: Champion's Universe or your own I actually like the Champions New Millennium Universe more than the core 5th ed CU I maintain that, without the crappy Image-style artwork, CNM is possibly the best commercially published setting that didn't come from an established comic universe. Certainly the best one published for Champions, IMO. - always liked The GUARD better than UNTIL/PRIMUS/SAT/Whatever TB

I found that the style made the setting much more accessable to me. Villains that I had never though much of became living beings in that setting. It was sheer genius that most of the NPC's introduced themselves. Those characters leapt off the page and onto my gaming table.

HawksmoorSD
Re: Champion's Universe or your own Yansuf, my normal campaigns are closer in DC's and Def's and such to 4E than 5E. I think Destroyer as written in CKC would literally maul everyone in my 500+ Avengers Legacy game. I think if you were to look around you'll see that I've weighed in on the power level creep thing before and I'll try to keep this thread on topic. I think the books Tasha is talking about are the Champions New Millenium books that contained the Fuzion system. Admittedly, I didn't read that setting as closely as I should have so I can't say anything about it. Considering how much I keep hearing its the way to go I'll have to dig my copy out and read the setting this time and not the rules.
Lord Mhoram
Re: Champion's Universe or your own I also throw in numerous thinly-veiled pop culture references, sometimes as hints to the players, sometimes as red herrings. Basically, I just try to use any elements I can find at hand to make an enjoyable game. I remember the Doom adventure.

Yeah, but you're one of them there young whippersnappers the setting was specifically marketed to.

[/quote'] Not by a long shot... Been playing champions since 84 or so. Been collecting comics since the mid 70s or such. I liked the artwork. Simple. It was the best artwork that hero had ever placed in a product. Loved the little comic and the Character art was fun (didn't like Anime Mechanon, but that was the only exception). Image, I didn't like so much. As their artwork was usually pretty decent (excepting Rob Liefield of course), but those guys couldn't write a decent story to save their lives. Of course neither could anyone else during that time period, and I stopped buying comics shortly after Image opened up. Tasha
