Nyrath
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-06/miot-ust060809.php PASADENA, Calif.--Astronomers have found that stars of a recently discovered type, dubbed ultracool subdwarfs, take some pretty wild rides as they orbit around the Milky Way, following paths that are very different from those of typical stars. One of them may actually be a visitor that originated in another galaxy. And who knows what eldritch cosmic horror your player-characters will be faced with when they attempt to explore a black subdwarf star that came from outside of our galaxy? I'm sad now. Why does everyone else get to have all the fun?
Hyper-Man
Re: Ultracool stars take 'wild rides' around, outside the Milky Way So it seems that these stars are like galactic 'Ort Cloud' objects. I wonder if we will ever discover larger structures in the universe* that have a similar relationship? *(than we current have like 'groups')

Cancer
Re: Ultracool stars take 'wild rides' around, outside the Milky Way My wife laughed when I told her I was going to the Cool Stars Conference since my institution was hosting it that year. She still laughs about that whenever she retells the story, since she knows it's full of trans-geeky astronomer types.
