L. Marcus
Fried octopus isn't too far-fetched. As for fried porridge...well, one of my childhood breakfasts were patties of chilled oatmeal rolled in breadcrumbs and fried in butter. It was a recipe I found in an old Sesame Street cookbook. My dad grew up pretty poor -- their lunch tended to be the porridge left over from breakfast, fried. He still swears at the notion of fried porridge. Pariah
Fried porridge is not that big a jump from fried corn-meal mush (which is pretty darn good, by the way).
Cancer
This may belong in the other thread, but tomorrow is the wife's birthday, and we're going to Flying Fish.
tkdguy
Happy Birthday to your wife! The Flying Fish looks like a great restaurant. I'll plug a couple of restaurants myself. For my birthday, my friends to me to Val's: http://www.valsrestaurant.net/ For my sister's birthday, the family went to Kingfish: http://www.kingfish.net/
Cygnia
Ginko is the place we went to for our anniversary this year, where I got to indulge in a proper omakase. Even got to try sea cucumber for the first time!
lemming
iirc, Flying Fish is the resturant my wife shot her wedding ring under someone else's table while playing with it on the table... Great food as well, but that was close to when they first opened.

Pariah
The 9 Most Expensive Junk Foods I'm sorry, but there's not a single thing on that list that I would consider eating--even if the prices weren't outrageous.
Pariah
I'm not sure about eating gold. I'd rather sell it. Yeah, eating gold (or platinum or any other heavy metal) would not be my first choice either.
lemming
I'll pass on eating metal as well. The Cheese platter (minus the silly gold), the Mac & Cheese, and the truffle sound good. (I'm not a fan on cavier or foi gras, different reasons)

Michael Hopcroft
20 Worst Fast Food Fails Seems like Burger King made a few more than its share of these blunders. Has KFC given up on the DoubleDown, or can you still get one if you really want it?

Cancer
The turkey is all gone, the stuffing is all eaten, the soup made from the carcass is all eaten. Tonight, spaghetti with marinara and sausages, green salad, and good crusty bread. Drool.
