DusterBoy
Re: LHC 'Malfunction' No Accident? Oh no. No more Lovecraft nonsense. "Powerful and malign intelligences from elsewhere in the galaxy." Oh puh-leeze. I'm actually angry about this. One of the greatest scientific experiments in history and all anyone can think of is Cthulhu and his mob - or an ersatz version. Aaaarrrgh! Stop it! Now! One of the greatest scientific experiments in history and all anyone can think of is Cthulhu and his mob - or an ersatz version. [a] The idea is to find useful plot seeds for a Star Hero Campaign. That's why this is the Star Hero subsection of the Hero Games forum. I've read the novel Einstein's Bridge, and it is indeed about a ring particle accelerator (the Superconducting Supercollider) that opens up a dimensional rift. It was written by physicist John Cramer, who is a Professor of Physics at the University of Washington in Seattle. He did some research in Ultra-Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics at Brookhaven (STAR) and CERN (NA49)

Zeropoint
Re: LHC 'Malfunction' No Accident? A bird. Dropping its snack. Shuts down the whole LHC project. Have the engineers who built this thing not heard of the arcane technology known as a "roof"?
Lawnmower Boy
Re: LHC 'Malfunction' No Accident? Ha. So-called venture capitalists have been ripping off the public with this "roof" vaporware since Day One. I know it sounds pretty plausible in an Internet pitch, but do the math, man!
