Major Tom 2009
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine The Earth of the Champions Universe isn't the only place where the ancient serpent-god Nama has been involving itself in the affairs of humanity. On one of the many alternate Earths which exist in the Multiverse, there exists an organization that, like VIPER on the Champions Universe's Earth, was not only founded by Nama but which has been heavily influenced by him through- out the decades of its existence. This organization is known on its Earth as the Serpent Legion, and its 'Supreme Serpent'-type leader is a man known only as Lord Colubridus: Lord Colubridus is every bit as merciless -- and as ruthless -- as any Nest Leader or VIPER agent ever encountered by the heroes of the Champions Universe's Earth. His superhuman strength and reflexes -- not to mention his ability to mentally control any species of venomous snake (vipers are his favor- ite, but any poisonous snake will serve his purposes) -- make him one of the most dangerous beings alive. His greatest goal is to bring the Earth of his universe under the complete domin- ation of the Serpent Legion, and he will allow nothing to stand in his way. Thus far, no individual superhero or superhero team native to the Champions Universe has had the opportunity -- or mis- fortune, as the case may be -- to encounter Lord Colubridus and his Serpent Legion...but it's only a matter of time before that day comes. Major Tom 2009
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Lord Colubridus doesn't rule the Serpent Legion by himself; he has a very capable -- and extraordinarily lethal -- second-in-command, who is known only as Lady Elapidia: Lady Elapidia handles the day-to-day administrative details involved with running an international superterrorist organization, allowing Lord Colubridus to concentrate upon not only his master strategy for global domination, but also those operations designed to mislead and occupy the attention of the superheroes of his Earth -- operat- ions which are designed to conceal his true objectives from any hero or hero team, until it's too late for them to stop them from being carried out. In addition to being the Serpent Legion's second-in-command, Lady Elapidia has one other distinction: she's also the chosen consort of Lord Colubridus, a position she finds immensely pleasurable -- not to mention highly advantageous in many respects. Not only does she love Colubridus (and is loved by him as well), she also shares his goal of ruling their Earth as well. Her position as his consort also brings with it an extremely secret responsibility as well -- that of being his chief assassin, whenever necessary. She accomplishes her assassinations (or executions, depending on who's been marked for death by Lord Colubridus) by means of a literal "kiss of death". Major Tom 2009
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine The picture below shows one of Lord Colubridus' many minions -- a Serpent Legionnaire in full gear: The primary weapon used by all Serpent Legionnaires is a pulse blaster rifle, which has a cyclic rate of fire of 300 r.p.m. (about half that of a conventional autorifle) and can be set to fire either armor-piercing shots or stun blasts. Their secondary weapon is a blaster pistol; unlike their rifles, their blaster pistols fire explosive energy blasts. Spare powerpacks for both weapons are carried in the pouches of the web belts which are part of their uniforms; their weapons load also includes four HE grenades, a commando knife, and a wire garrote. Their uniforms are composed of a hybrid of Kevlar and fire-retardant materi- als, and a special energy-dissipating mesh has also been incorporated into their design as well. This mesh has the effect of reducing the effectiveness and potency of certain types of energy attacks, especially those which are based upon electrical energy. The helmets which are a part of the uniform are also composed of the same materials, and are equipped with secure- frequency radiocommunicators, IR/UV optical sensors, and anti-glare polar- ization as well. The helmets worn by those Serpent Legionnaires in command positions (platoon level and higher) have an additional set of enhancements, one of which is kept secret from all of them. The first enhancement is a kind of "psi-shield", which interferes with attempts by mentalists to use either mind-control or telepathy on any high-ranking off- icer of the Legion. The second "enhancement" is Lord Colubridus' insurance against the possibility of any Legionnaire betraying him or the Legion: a quarter- pound of plastic explosive concealed within the helmet, which can be remote- detonated by Lord Colubridus at the first sign of treachery on the part of any of his officers. Major Tom 2009
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine With the success of the original Ultimate Soldier project back in the Second World War, it was decided by the powers-that-be at the Pentagon that a new version of this battlesuit would be designed and built. Employing the most state-of-the-art tech- nologies and advanced materials, the engineers and scientists involved with the project were successful in their attempt to create a 'suit which was even more powerful than the original: Although this new version of the Ultimate Soldier is twice the size of its WWII predescessor, it only weighs as much as the original unit due to the use of advanced ultralight alloys and composite materials in its construction. Its onboard weaponry is also superior to that of the original, with a pair of arm-mounted laser cannons (which are concealed within the "gauntlets" when not in use) and shoulder- mounted guided missile launchers. Because of the limitations on how many missiles can be carried by the unit (six per launcher), the designers chose to maximize the effectiveness of each missile by making it a 'beehive'-type weapon, in that each missile would be a carrier of four smaller missiles. Each of these smaller missiles (whose warheads are more than powerful enough to defeat the armored protection of any known MBT in the world) is not only capable of being programmed to seek out individ- ual targets, but can also use laser guidance to home in on their targets. To this end, the unit has been equipped with a pair of tar- geting lasers mounted in the launchers; the missiles are also cap- able of homing in on targets "painted" by handheld laser designat- ors. Like its WWII predecessor, the new Ultimate Soldier is capable of flight; however, unlike the earlier unit, the new Ultimate Soldier makes use of anti-gravitic technology to extend its flight endur- ance (rumor has it that the anti-grav technology was developed as a result of reverse-engineered alien technology). The unit has been designed to be capable of operating in virtually any environment known to man -- whether it is underwater, on the surface of the Moon, or the devastation of a Nuclear/Biological/ Chemical battlefield -- and its life-support system can protect its operator for a maximum of 72 hours before needing to be recharged. While the unit is capable of being operated by a highly-trained pilot, the project's heads continue to search for an operator with the same metahuman abilities as the pilot who used the original Ultimate Sol- dier.
