Cannon_Fodder
I need a stardard Falcon/Bird of Prey, thats it. Nothing fancy the one straight out of HERO System Bestiary is fine with me.
Thia Halmades
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey I don't know if I can reprint the one out of the bestiary, but if nothing else it'll be a good exercise in design for you. Low stats, some Flight, and crazy telescopic vision. An HKA so it can snap the necks of little bunnies, and you're good to go.
Cannon_Fodder
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey I did give it a shot, I had one at 90+30dis but it didn't feel right. Somthing about a 120 point falcon seamed very wrong. I will keep trying.

Thia Halmades
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey At a net of +44" of flight considering he has it stuck in an MP? How are you coming up with a 40d6 Move Through? v/5 gives me 9d6, not 40.
Vestnik
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey Let me check my book.... OK, 40d6 is a bit high. Falcon. -10 STR, so nothing there. 24" Flight, PLUS 48" Flight only for Move Bys. Double that because Flight is doubled when you're going downward. That's 144" of Flight, divided by 5 = a 28d6 Move Through! Technically this will only work if the bird is doing a Move By at prey and misses, ramming into whatever is in its line of motion. I wonder what kind of a crater this will leave in the ground? EDIT: what MP? I don't see that in the writeup.

I wonder what kind of a crater this will leave in the ground? EDIT: what MP? I don't see that in the writeup. My Bestiary has its Flight in a Flight Multi-Power, covering Flight, Gliding, and Stooping (the bombardier attack). The MP is maxed to support said Stooping, which means its in fact 44" doubled (for NCM) to 88/5 = 18d6. And that, Cannon Fodder, is Normal Damage, not to be confused with Killing Damage. Otherwise hawks would be the dominant predators the world over.
Vestnik
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey Nope nope nope. The Flight and Gliding are in an MP -- the Stooping is outside it. 28d6 Move Through Deathbirds Rule All!
Thia Halmades
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey I'll be damned, I misread it and you are correct. Thia Halmades
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey Beware the Rapacious Raptor and his army of Kamikaze Kestrels!! No Superhero shall stand in his way!!! Seriously. I don't wanna get hit with a 28d6 aerial strike. "So, Thia, are watching the Glarck!" "Jarome?" glances around. "Jarome?" Swoosh! CRUNCH! All they ever found were a pair of stilettos and a Holy Avenger. The two officers were never hear from again...
Dust Raven
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey Nope nope nope. The Flight and Gliding are in an MP -- the Stooping is outside it. 28d6 Move Through Deathbirds Rule All! I know there was a reason I was gonna name my new supervillain organization RAPTOR. Oh, and it's a 28d6 Move By, not Move Through. Personally though I think it should be listed specifically as a Grab By rather than Move By, as the falcon will typically have its prey clutched in its talons after it passes. Alibear
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey It needs to be combat flight or it's gonna be OCV 0 and all kinds of dead as it splats into the deck when it can't pull up in time. I'm gonna have to check the build when I get home.
Maur
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey And yet falcon's can't kill a normal human in a single attack... so that 28d6 normal move-by is pretty high.

Thia Halmades
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey Well it is technically a move-by, and dramatic and common sense factor in here. The falcon kills by whip-lashing its prey to death. Swoop, snap, neck break. Except the tiny things. They evidently just go along for the ride and then get eated. gojira
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey See' date=' that was your brain refusing to accept that a falcon can do a 28d6 Move Through. Maur
Re: Simple Falcon/ Bird of Prey Actually that is the engine doing it to itself... Since it happens even to birds like ducks which aren't Birds of Prey...

Clearly falcons are refusing to use their 28d6 Move Bys in the interest of gentlemanly fair play and balance.
