Barbara vdB
Re: What Age are we in now I believe we're in the "Nobody reads comics anymore' date=' esspecially not kids" age...[/quote'] Except for everyone in our gaming group. Sundog, Dhroz and Weldun have the obligatory cardboard box collection. I only have 4 cardboard boxes. Others same thing.

Arac-4105
Re: What Age are we in now Just throwing my two cents in here: I'd call it the Rubber Age -- the comics writers and editors are stretching and bending all the established and well-liked characters all out of shape just to try milking a few more dollars out of their fan base. Just my opinion, though.
Hugh Neilson
Re: What Age are we in now Agreed' date=' though the deaths and other consequences of violence were usually off screen. As noted in my posts, the "ages" were always more mixed than we tend to give them credit for in internet arguments.[/quote'] Some Golden Age moments I can recall (from reprints): - Superman commenting that a criminal's death saved the cost of a trial. - Bats' earliest opponent falling in that acid vat. - Jim Corrigan pretty obviously beating info out of a thug (although the actual beating was off screen) - The Human Torch burning numerouos thugs and nazis to death (fire's not exactly a catch and release power) - Numerous covers, Captain America and Batman especially, featuring the heroes armed with guns or heavier weapons The Golden Age characters, in general and to my recollection, did not try to kill their opponents, but they weren't trying not to, and didn't often shed a tear if the vilains died. This came to some extent from the pulp roots of the genre, and to some extent from the times. A cop beating a confession out of a crook was at least passably acceptable, and who would balk at killing Nazis?
Balabanto
Re: What Age are we in now Actually, Hugh, the fall into the vat of acid isn't the kicker. It's what he says afterwards. "A fitting end for all his kind."
Pental
Re: What Age are we in now I said it before...Fondant age. Cuz it looks cool, but really has no substance. Oh, and it tastes like the candy circus peanuts.
GamePhil
Re: What Age are we in now - Superman commenting that a criminal's death saved the cost of a trial. It was Superman? I could have sworn that was Bats. Ah, well, shows what I know.

pinecone
Re: What Age are we in now I also remember Supes "questioning" a gangster by flying way up and dropping him...then "almost" missing the catch......
