dmt
I have a question about the nonpersistent limitation. How does this work if I take for something like Mental Defense? Does this just mean every morning when I wake up I just need to say "I turn it on" and then it stays on no problem until I'm knocked out or asleep? It seems like no real disadvantage for something like this ...

Sean Waters
Re: Question about Nonpersistent Like many things that are non-persistent, as a GM I would not assume that it is automatically on: it needs to be 'maintained' even if it is not costing END. I also would not assume it says on for extended periods of non-combat time. If someone was attacked by surprise, I might require an EGO roll to see if the character had maintained the mental discipline to keep it up and running. Of course if the PC had just said 'I make sure my mental defences are in place' that would override the situation.
Dr.Device
Re: Question about Nonpersistent Keep in mind you have to drop the nonpersistent power to take a recovery (other than post-segment 12 recoveries), too.
Kdansky
Re: Question about Nonpersistent Huh? I thought you can take a recovery even if you have a 0-END power active. Meaning, you can do it as long as you don't pay END in that phase.

Kdansky
Re: Question about Nonpersistent Oi, that greatly reduces the amount of recoveries many characters can take. Force Fields and such are rarely persistent, but often 0-End. Dropping my DCV is one thing, but also losing 15/15 defenses is something completely different. Checkmate
Re: Question about Nonpersistent Yikes, I didn't realize that either. I thought if you didn't spend END you could recover. Man every time I come to these boards Martial Artists are looking more and more powerful.

braincraft
Re: Question about Nonpersistent Well, you still get your post-12 recovery. You just can't take a recovery action. I like it, since it discourages turtling.
