gewing
Re: Cool Guns for your Games okay guys, a new choice for the supersoldiers and brick gunmen. a modified Lightweight M240B, chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum!! http://www.guns.com/general-dynamics-armament-a-technical-products-lightweight-medium-machine-gun-338-norma-magnum-7912.html edit Sorry I typed faster than I thought, it is in the .338 Norma Magnum, which is a shortened and "improved" version of the same case as the Lapua. Somewhat more efficient, possibly more intrinsically accurate.

gewing
Re: Cool Guns for your Games Cool. Finally a 2.5d6 KA machine gun to fill the gap between 7.62 Nato and .50BMG! the .338 Norma is a superbly efficient cartridge. It is shorter than the .338 Lapua to allow for longer bullets in a given length action. It is also superbly accurate. I have talked to at least one Marine Sniper who feels the .50 sniper rifles are too big for most uses. .338 norma works well in a 14 lb gun, instead of a 30+ pound one. Ragitsu
Re: Cool Guns for your Games In the video game "Metal Gear Solid 3", the character Revolver Ocelot first carries a Makarov PM. It jams on him during an encounter, but he manages to keep the unfired bullet as a souvenir of the event. Later on, he carries Colt Single Action Army revolvers. He has also now installed the earlier 9x18mm round on a sort of base/adapter that allows him to place it in an SAA, and, presumably, fire it. Does something like this exist in reality? Kaeto
Re: Cool Guns for your Games No it does not. The 9 mm is equivalent in size to the .38 and Single Action Army revolvers are .45 cal.

Kaeto
Re: Cool Guns for your Games It would still lose so much power that at a foot from the barrel it would probably bounce off any target.
Zeropoint
Re: Cool Guns for your Games You'd need a chamber adapter, basically a self-contained chamber and very short barrel that would fit inside the .45 Colt chamber. It wouldn't look like the picture--it would look like a .45 Colt cartridge machined out of steel with a 9x18 chamber and barrel running through it. Similar items DO exist--you can get inserts like this that allow you to fire .22 ammo in a gun chambered for .45 Colt.
