I like the idea, but think a lot of these advanced tech weapons and tools are going to be expensive... [/quote'] These kind of weapons will be a lot less effective against a enemy that has any kind of real tech base. Electronic warfare specialist on both sides will have their hands full. Electronic warfare specialist on both sides will have their hands full. that is true. However, blanket jamming is not the most effective tactic. I doubt anyone will be jamming all the time. Though these current ones are probably using a very limited bandwidth, sooner or later they will use broadband transmissions, and that should be tougher to jam. For both good and bad. The Air Force is trying to put an Anti-radiation capability better than a current HARM into the next rendition of the AMRAAM, as I understand it. They also don't require more pilots to be trained when fail to return from their "missions". And not having enough warhead to be useful for anti-armour might actually be a plus against soft targets in urban areas, limitation of collateral damage & all. Antennas are what the harm missile destroys. If it's powerful enough to damage the trailer the antenna is attached to, that's fine also. It would also warrant the use of heavier artillery to knock out the jammer, and it takes no time at all to get a good fix on a transmitter these days. There's no way to run and no way to hide. However, most missiles have a circular probability error radius in the meters (more like tens of meters for long range shots). You can mitigate that by using JDAM systems or keeping a human in the loop, but Sidewinders are fire-and-forget. US/Nato weapons (HARM, RAF'S ALARM) use fragmentation to shred antennas/vehicles/launchers; Russian arms use 220+pound warheads to crater said sites. ymmv. Particularly because they will be able to lock on off axis or even after launch, and sidewinders iirc are mach 2.5 or so.
