Barbara vdB
You know you've got problems when: The pacifist(code vs killing) in the party says" When he's down, cut his throat. Then we don't have to worry about him anymore." You know you've really got problems when: They walk off because they are more interested in getting a drunken party member out and cleaned up before his girlfriend sees him, than in helping with combat. Feel free to add your own, I have about 4 pages of them from various games. Use the abreviations, it's a lot quicker. eg. YKYGPW: you cast a fireball at the theif threatening your familiar. YKYRGPW: you're a fighter. YKYGPW: you're badly injured party can't rest because of frogs croaking. YKYRGPW: you find out that they are as big as you, more numerous and breathe fire. YKYRPGW: You are completely surrounded by enemies. YKYRGPW: You cast an area effect spell ,with you as ground zero. Which should knock out all the enemies around you but forget about your Vulnerability to that type of attack. Have fun!

Barbara vdB
Re: Ykygpw____ykyrgpw Ykygpw: Your character's parents think "The only use for Supers, is dealing with other Supervillains." YKYRGPW: You've got Chaos/Entropy powers (mainly destructive) YKYGPW: Your character's parents don't think working in a PRIMUS office is 'suitable' YKYRGPW: You're actually training as a Feild Agent. YKYGPW: You plan on telling them on your 21st birthday (after inheriting) YKYRGPW: You don't think that this will stop them having you sent a 'good doctor to deal with your little problem' YKYGPW: You put Battle Dress Uniform, on your 21st party invitations for your classmates. YKYRGPW: You think inviting Foxbat (and inadvertantly Batfox) because it can't make it any worse. Redefining your vulnerability by adding an SFX when a new, major foe uses that very SFX is deliberate.
Metaphysician
Re: Ykygpw____ykyrgpw At the very least, if the GM rules that the aliens' Ion Rifles trigger vulnerabilities to Electricity, they should *also* be subject to any powers effecting Electricity. So, your buddy Megavolt with his Absorb vs Electricity, ED Armor vs Electricity, and Dispel vs Electricity Powers should be smashing them up. If the Ion Rifles trigger your vulnerability, and yet somehow aren't effected by Megavolt's powers? Flip the table and hang the GM from his toes. Balabanto
Re: Ykygpw____ykyrgpw That depends on the level at which he bought the vulnerability. If it's COMMON, guess what? The player should shut up and take it. That means that it should pretty much be appearing one in every two sessions. The GM might want to pull the player aside and ask him to change his vulnerability in a case like this by buying it down with experience points, but if someone paid for 30 points of 1.5 x Stun and Body from Electricity, he should eat it. Metaphysician
Re: Ykygpw____ykyrgpw No offense, but it *used* to be that "What Would Your Character Do" was written out every single time. I think it was only after the first couple dozen threads, once everyone on the board knew what it meant, that someone abbreviated it. And frankly, thats what acronyms are *for*, to shorten and simplify commonly used phrases. It wasn't adopted out of any malevolent urge to exclude the newbie. And given it would take any newbie all of one click to figure out what it means for the duration of their stay. . .

I only finally looked at this thread because I saw it hadn't been deleted as spam by a mod. As to your supposed "harshness," Israelis are known for their blunt speech. In a world in which many people think the world's sharp corners need to be wrapped in foam padding, I find straight speech curiously refreshing. New from White Wolf: Geek: The Babbling. PREACH ON, BROTHER! Yeah, I'm in the same camp here... as a whole, people have a hard enough time speaking their own language correctly, no need to exacerbate it with this type of language. And, in addition, those who learn English as a second language are usually further frustrated because its such a whimsical language anyway, with more exceptions than rules. Generalizing about a group of people and their manner of speech is kind of poor form as well. I'd rep you again, Von D-man, but that'd be twice in a row... and it doesn't let me do such things. I rather found it wry and in the spirit of the thread it self. No blood, no foul. These boards could do with a bit better writing style overall. Barbara is hardly the only person here using funky acronyms. It's just a general complaint, nothing personal or special. Move along, nothing to see here...
