OzMike
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Thanks Mike... I have to say, the War of the Worlds is a huge favourite of mine, both the origianl HG Wells story, and all the others that have come after it (comics, movies, animations, soundtracks, you name it... though not all of them have been up to scratch). I seem to have a thing for Mars in general, as I love the John Carter of Mars books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, and most movies that involve Mars... Hmmm... that gives me an idea Cheers, John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars perhaps?
mancerbear
Re: MancerBear's Art Den No.. I ws thinking more along the lines of something drawn form the John Carter of Mars books. The Burroughs Estate is very propriatal towards it all, so I'd need to get permission, or worse, seek a license before I could publish anything. mancerbear
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Hi Guys n Gals, I'm running a wee survey, and I'd like to ask you all the opinion of two banners, one of which will become my main banner, used on all message bards. No 1. or No 2. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Cheers,
aylwin13
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Definitely No.2. Ya gotta have the cow in the banner (even if it's just a little bit of it).
Comic
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Oh, this is a tough choice. Aesthetically, I prefer #1. It shows more of your drawing style, is more interesting visually, and .. completely contradicts its own leading text, unless you intend the blue-furred critter to be the ninja, and the tiara-wearing woman to be the cow, or vice versa? BNakagawa
Re: MancerBear's Art Den #1 has more artwork on it, #2 has an easier to read layout. Layering text over artwork is usually a bad idea. Especially if it puts both at odds with neither benefitting.
OzMike
Re: MancerBear's Art Den #2 for me. It looks more professional. #1 is just a little too 'busy'.
teh bunneh
Re: MancerBear's Art Den The second one, definitely.
Scifi_Toughguy
Re: MancerBear's Art Den One more vote for #2.
GoldenAge
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Honestly, you need a #3. #1 is busy and lacks a ninja cow reference (which many here think appropriate, myself included ). #2's typography as difficult on the eyes, but it does have the ninja cow. The inclusion of negative space allows quick comprehension, but I'm confused by the compression of the header type when there seems to be no obvious reason. Consider symmetry. Either you take a symmetrical approach or the asymmetrical approach. Pick one, stick with it and you'll have more success. #1 is symmetrical though the extraneous type looses its meaning by being forced to opposite sides of the bar. #2 is a perfect example of accidental asymmetry. While you may have intended to ground the majority of your message and art in the left portion of the bar, you haven't gone far enough. The result is something that looks more like an accident than intentional asymmetry. #3 should have a dynamic layout (perhaps with ninja cow ) coupled with sensible organization (design), symmetry and typography. Good luck!
freakboy6117
Re: MancerBear's Art Den I'd go with #2 because the cow rocks. Also i would rep you for the very sexy harajuku girls and the awesome tripod, but I'll have to spread some around first
Lord Liaden
Re: MancerBear's Art Den I generally favor #2, for the distinctive ninja cow, although I would recommend widening the central script more like it is in #1. As is it looks a little cramped.
csyphrett
Re: MancerBear's Art Den I like Number 2 also, Darren. Have you thought about moving the cow over with Ninja cow studios on one side then the picture then your name and GM/Artist in bigger letters? That might give it a more balanced look, might not. Balabanto
Re: MancerBear's Art Den I would also prefer a #3. I think you can draw a more stylish ninja cow...
Legatus
Re: MancerBear's Art Den #1 'cause it features my favourite character of yours: the blue furred tazmanian devil (whattsisnameagain?) #2 it is NINJA COW! We get the idea. But you can definitely do better than that. There is only one way. Back to work: You need a #3. Sorry!

mattingly
Re: MancerBear's Art Den I agree. Number 2 is more eye-catching, and cleaner/easier to read.
mancerbear
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Okay Guys, Just played an awesome game with my neices, and was inspired to draw their main protagonist tonight when I got him. I think he came out okay for a quick pencil sketch Here's the Rubbish Man Cheers,

Magmarock
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Next we have Aquanaut who designed and built his own power suit. A Tritonean environmental activist and self proclaimed Protector of the 7 Seas, he is obviously an Aquaman homage. Rep to you for this one. Beautiful pose, man. Nice colors. Great name. Captain Liberty
Re: MancerBear's Art Den Everybody keeps using the term, and I really don't understand it. What is "repping"? What is the term derived from? I can't help it, I love to discover the origins of slang.

Legatus
Re: MancerBear's Art Den I have no idea. Your rep power is 0, although I gave you some rep for your brilliant artwork and I'm sure others did that too. No clue, no explanation, sorry! BTW I like your new banner!
