Cassandra
Who doesn't love Miss 20 pounds of crazy in a 5 pound bag?! Great show, and one of the few where the character interactions get deeper an more complex as the show progresses. I had a theory her first name was Rhonda, in honor of Mother's blonde bodyguard in the last season of The Avengers.

Nolgroth
Marvel's Defenders on Netflix. Went well with my insomnia last night. Started out kind of slow and disjointed. Got much better. Ended too soon.
death tribble
Mike Hawthorn. This was about a British racing driver who became the first British Formula 1 World Champion and was involved in the 1955 Le Mans Disaster. Shortly after becoming the World Champion he retired and was killed in a car accident shortly thereafter. He leaves me feeling a bit ambivalent to be honest. Joe Walsh
We watched the first two episodes of Defenders (we're going to take our time and relish it, watching two episodes per week on Sundays). Good stuff...I'm looking forward to seeing the next installment! Spence
bigdamnhero
The Fifth Element. I hadn't seen it since it first came out, didn't care for it much then...and didn't really like it any better this time around.

Nolgroth
A friend tells me I have to watch it. It will be my first time. I'm with BDH here. It was not entertaining to me. It was almost parody or lampoon or maybe tried for parody and utterly failed. Still, I know a couple of people that loved the movie so what do I know? bigdamnhero
I have a bunch of friends who love Fifth Element, which is why I thought I'd give it another try. Admittedly, I have a pretty low Milo Jovovich tolerance, but that aside it just didn't work for me.

Joe Walsh
On Hulu, I watched two episodes of Mary Kills People. It's yet another Canadian series shown on an American cable channel (Lifetime, in this case). It's about a doctor and her sidekick, who illegally offer euthanasia to the terminally ill. I've seen it advertised as a black comedy, but I haven't seen enough comedy in it to justify calling it that. I'd say it's more of a standard serialized drama. The story is OK so far, but it relies a little too much on characters making poor choices. I won't put it in the overstuffed "show about dumb people doing dumb things" category yet, but it's sliding that way. Maybe it'll redeem itself. Tech priest support
Just saw all old film called "fail safe"..if you've never seen it see it. One hell of a great movie. And no there is no music score. Spence
Nolgroth
Netflix's Death Note. I know it is based on a Japanese manga and/or anime property, but since I have little interest in either of those, this was the only way I would get to enjoy the story. That fact also means that the inevitable comparisons between the original work and this one will be completely lost on me. I got to experience it for what it is, not through the lens of a fanboy of the original work. Pretty interesting but nothing groundbreaking. I expected a twist or two based entirely on the concept of writing notes, almost like one-sided micro contracts, into a book. Well acted. There was some slow at the beginning, but it quickly picked up momentum. I enjoyed it. Definitely recommend if you have a spare couple of hours (actually less than two). I haven't seen the Netflix version, but the anime or Japanese live action adaptations are both worth watching if you don't mind reading subtitles. They were very clever in using the notes and the cat and mouse game with the investigator (L in the anime).
Pattern Ghost
We had a double feature yesterday due to a Redbox promotion: GOTG2 and Logan. Liked both. Minor nitpicks were GOTG being a bit too obvious with the funny dialog this time around, some of it seeming forced, and Logan looking like it was shot on high definition video tape with really excessive lighting. I did see the original and I'm fine with the changes made (since the story was condensed from 700 minutes to 100): It got the point across. I liked the "Xanatos Speed Chess" trope being used to full effect in act 3: it was very much in line with the anime. Cassandra
Rio Lobo It was Howard Hawks last movie, and it starred John Wayne. Future studio head Sherry Lansing has a role in the movie. I bet she showed it to her board of directors just to keep them in line. Joe Walsh
