What Have You Watched Recently?

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Part of me wants to make sure the liquor cabinet is stocked up and see how many of these films I can get via netflix...

Good luck.

But part of me wants to ask, instead of "worst film ever" wouldn't it be better use of your time to watch the "best films ever" instead? (you know see the best humankind can do, instead of the worst)

Interesting. In the Name of the King didn't make it on that list. That's surprising as that is one of the worst new movies (post 2k) that I have seen in the past decade.

I am also flabbergasted that they always pick Alone in the Dark as a horribly bad movie. Is it bad? Absolutely, but it is one of Uwe Boll's best films. They get worse from there. And he's still making them. Case in point.

I do that as well. Whenever I think of a "classic" I've not seen, I drop it into the queue. As an example, I have Das Boot sitting on my coffee table right now.

But I am a fan of schlocky cheeze.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

We used to have a bad movie night called "Monday Bloody Monday" (then Wednesday and finally Thursday). We started out with three of us going to the dollar theater. We accidentally saw some good movies (but not many) and (in most cases) we had the theater to ourselves and heckled the movie. Eventually it became rental VHS films and we drank Sangria while heckling the films. It was a fine past time.

Just started watching the British scifi show Misfits last night. I didn't realize how far you could go on British TV; some of this is outright soft core porn! :nonp:

Aside from that, though, there's some very good writing in there with some genuinely funny moments.

Following the Following. Man that show is dark. I've been trying to pull away from "dark and gritty" a little bit so it has become something of a guilty pleasure.

Also been keeping up with Arrow. I don't know that it is high drama but I have been enjoying it way more than I thought I would. I guess that show can be considered "dark" too, but it is nowhere near "gritty."

Other shows that I keep up with: Castle (just consistently entertaining and only occasionally goes "dark"), Haven (if they will ever show the season finale on Hulu), and Supernatural (there is a kernel of a kernel of hope that the current storyline might actually be entertaining - unlike last season).

Everything or Nothing. How they brought James Bond to the screen and why there were breaks in the filming.Sean Connery appears through interviews he gave but Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Bronson and Craig all appear and talk about the part. Lazenby gets the prize for sheer chutzpah. Saltzman's family and Broccolli's family talk about the role and what their parents did.
