Nolgroth
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Space: Above and Beyond. Overall, the Pilot and following three or four episodes pretty much sucked as much as I remembered. I soldiered on though (pun intended) and it got better. Some episodes were really well done. I'm almost done with the entire run and it is pretty satisfying. I'm almost wishing it went further than it did.
AmadanNaBriona
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Beowulf & Grendel, with Gerard ("300", "Phantom of the Opera") Butler in the role of Beowulf. Best movie version of the Beowulf tale I've seen thus far, excepting The 13th Warrior. The 5th century Norse cultural bits, costuming and sets were really cool. Grendel was less slimy and more sympathetic, and it was an interesting take on the Troll blooded, but all in all I liked it. Oh, and the red headed witch was smoking hot.

Blue
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Last month's Lunchtime DVD viewing was Carnivale, Seasons 1 and 2. Last episode was yesterday, and I'm sad to say that not nearly enough was tied up to make me happy. Great series with no resolution. Damn HBO. Current Lunchtime viewing is Season One of Night Gallery, at least until I find something else I'm dying to watch. TV viewing when the World Series didn't pre-empt it: Prison Break, Heroes, House, Reaper, Ultimate Fighter, Top Chef, Last One Standing, Myth Busters, Ghost Hunters, Law & Order Criminal Intent. Markdoc
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Saw Stardust last Saturday. Saw it last night at the theatre. Two thumbs up. Also it got a good round of applause from the audience when it ended. cheers, Mark
Superskrull
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? I finally watched Transformers yesterday. Better than I expected, but we already know they're giant alien shapeshifting robots. Been seein' those for a couple decades now. The audience is already in on the secret, so put more robocentric scenes in, you dipsticks! I could care less about nameless hacker dorks #01-08. Get on with Starscream and Megatron vs Prime and Ironhide. Oh, and the ending was absolutely and likely unintentionally hilarious to me. Not the fight ending, but the 'pose and dramatic speech by Prime' ending.
OddHat
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Watching a lot of Dexter. Not so good as a police procedural or exploration of sociopathy, lots of fun as a drama with black comedy touches. Really enjoying it. Susano
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Eight-Diagram Pole Fighter -- old school Shaw Brothers martial arts film (shot in "Shawvision"!) A Chinese Tall Tale -- this riff on "A Journey to the West" is one of those odd-ball Chinese comedies that piles parody on top of slapstick on top of just plain goofiness. I spotted scenes that looked like they were borrowed from Ghandi, Spider-Man, The Matrix, Star Wars, and who knows what all. I honestly am not 100% sure of the plot (due to watching it while sorting stuff), but at times it was hilarious.

CorPse
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? so you must be looking forward to Beowulf then. Someone explained the concept of the Uncanny Valley to me after watching that trailer... That explained why it looked so bad... ... but anyway, I've been watching the first season of Friday Night Lights. A freakin' awesome show. A show that should be watched even if you don't like football or Texas. There's tons of brilliant and honest writing in it. Never seen teenagers handled so well on TV. AliceTheOwl
Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Josh and I watched more Smallville. Never felt such unbridled hate toward a fictional character I'm supposed to like, before. New sensation. Also, am beginning to think I spend too much time around slashficcers. Then Josh and I watched Singin' in the Rain last night. Some good, clean fun, there. Surprisingly funny. We're going to the Cinebarre to get our Heroes fix tonight. They air the live episodes for free admission, in the hopes that you'll buy their food. There are few indulgences that feel more lazy and wonderful than sitting in stadium seating, having greasy food served to me by a person who's otherwise perfectly quiet and invisible, watching TV.
