Sketchpad
For those not in the know, Supernatural is a show on the CW that follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who travel across the country in a black 1967 Chevy Impala investigating paranormal events and other unexplained occurrences. Personally, I love the show's concept and have considered running a game based in the same world. My question is this, how many people would be interested in playing in this? If I run it, I'd like to run the game on HeroCentral and would need 3 players (the fourth being the lovely Missus Sketch ). I would allow one person to have minor psychic ability based on the same background as Sam Winchester has had. For more info on Supernatural, check out the Wiki page on the subject. Sketchpad
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting What kind of point total are you talking SP? CES I'm think either 100 or 150 pt characters. Any opinions?
csyphrett
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting Not really. I dont get to watch it like I want to. I know their dad is a good magician, and there are other psychics and things. That stuff can cost during character building. CES
hooligan x
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting Most of the hunters are regular dudes who know what to shoot the spookies with. Some weapon skills, KS:Spooki shootin', some contacts, and a mess load of luck. Easily under a buck fifty in points. It's the lone fancy guy who will sweat the construction. Sketchpad
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting I agree ... that's why I was thinking 100 pts to start (50+50), since they are pretty much normal folk. They can buy equipment and vehicles. I've considered using a Sanity system as well, though I'm not 100% on that as they seem a bit fearless. Dino
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting I agree ... that's why I was thinking 100 pts to start (50+50)' date=' since they are pretty much normal folk. The brothers are both smart, athletic, young and healthy. One went to college, the other got by as basically a grifter. Both were raised by a professional monster hunter and are tough enough to fight freaking monsters without the aid of powers. I could conservatively spend 100 points on thier characteristics alone. On the other hand I run superhero games with characters built on 500 pts, most of which is in skills. So what do I know?
Roth
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting While I think that 100 points on their stats is a bit much I do think that their are fully heroic characters and 150 would be what I used. They seem to have a fair bit spent on perks (Fake ID's, a number of contacts etc) and their hth training is good enought that Dean could one punch a couple of cops in one episode. As well either any one who has the knowledge can get rid of pretty much anything, or the hunters as a whole have a either a talent called "Faith" or "Belief" or they all have a small vairiable power pool to simulate the way they use various knowledges to get rid of some pretty potent opponents. Depends on how you build the various creatures. I personally would love to play in a Supernatrural type campaign, depending on when it is. (Day time etc). shadowcat1313
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting I like the ideas behind this, having run various versions of Stalking the Night Fantastic over the years, I would agree on the 75+75 characters, you might want to consider giving them an equipment pool/resource points I have converted some of our old Stalking/Bureau 13 characters to Hero, and if folks are interested i can post them here, there all based on 150 pts Harry Danielson: Aussie born photojournalist, vietnam and foreign legion vet, he was introduced to the supernatural after an african safari he was on was ambushed by ivory poachers working for a witch doctor. Mattias Cross: Cajun, Private detective, wild talent precognative Psi, Alcoholic, uses booze to help control the hallucinations. almost a cross between Columbo and Inspector Clouseau Sean Flynn: irish american, Stage Magician and real wizard, uses stage magic to help pass off some of the real magic as fake. Natalia Kerenkov: Russian Immigrant, Doctor, I have lost her original character sheet. Nakota O'Brien: Dakota Sioux, Gunsmith, Guide, herbal healing and very minor magic skills, more of a physical adept ala shadowrun. Eric Casey: Computer Hacker, Vehicle Mechanic, also missing the character sheet for. This team was based in St Louis for the most part, the last adventure we ran involved investigating a series of grisly murders along the river, turned out that after some major flooding, a Pleisiasaur turned up quite alive and hungry. they talked the navy into letting them use a LAMPS Helo with a dipping sonar for a search and rescue mission, and the pleisiasaur decided the dipper unit might be a tasty treat, does the term Nantucket Sleighride mean anything at all? Weldun
Re: Thinking About the Supernatural Setting Love that show. When it came out, I pointed it out to my old gaming group and the finally got where I was trying to go with all my abortive Beyond the Supernatural games. Frelling Rifts munchkins.
