McCoy
In the "An A-team for the 21st Century" thread http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37722 kiethcurtis says I've seen few re-envisioned TV shows and movies that were as well-crafted as BG. I offered the opinion that, in effect, the source material had no place to go but up. Which gave me an idea. I put this under "other genres" because this will allow us to role-play directors and producers. You challenge, should you decide to accept it, is to take the worst TV series or movie you can think of, and "re-envision" it so that it was good. I'll start. Punked. In my re-envisioned version, every episode ends with the guest star/victim kicking the crap out of Ashton Krutchner. While the staff stands by and laughs. Curufea
Re: Re-envisioning Mutant X Now with actors, story and a plot. Wood will now only appear in set construction. Reality Show of Choice Each week, viewers vote on a method of execution. Unpopular housemates/survivors/idols/small furry creatures from Alpha Centauria that are voted out, get to experience it. The winner of the series is given a gun and free license to kill any TV executives of their choice.

Curufea
Re: Re-envisioning It is based on the fact that anyone applying to a reality show has no life, and is pretty much committing suicide for any future career in any area they care to try for, anyway. Nah, then they'd have to constantly be in the public eye just to make a living. A better plan would be to make them believe they're on a TV show, but never air it, so no one else has to be subjected to it.

Watch for some rep in 3-4 days (I've got a lot of people racked up on my 'to rep' list right now, and it will take a couple of days to get through them. But you're on that list now, Captain Obvious! )
dbsousa
Re: Re-envisioning The Apprentice: Every team member questions "the Donald" every time he hypes one of his projects. DT: "The Trump Taj Mahal is one of the most successful casinos in the world." Team Member: "Actually Sir, my research suggests that it hasn't made a profit in three quarters and that many stockholders want to remove you from the board..." The Facts of Life: Same premise, but it airs on Cinemax, only at night.

dbsousa
Re: Re-envisioning That 70's House: a PBS Special in which two families would move into a 1970's style house, and have to wear authentic hairstyles and synthetic fiber clothes. No modern conveniences will be allowed into the house, and the children will have listen to 8-track tapes, and score the low-quality skunk weed that was available back then. The adults will have to ignore their children to "find themselves" and struggle with the cultural norms of the day, EST, Key Parties, and Gas Lines. In the last episode, all the male children are drafted, sent to Vietnam, and shot dead.
Sketchpad
Re: Re-envisioning The Powers of Matthew Star Ditch the jumpsuit and 70s hair and give him some umph. Make him a dark superhero that's attempting to find his origins while helping the needy. Think The Pretender with superpowers and an alien origin V BIG scale war this time around. Think Independance Day in scale. Buck Rogers Keep the general premise, but put it on Cinemax and have John Candy's voice digitally recreated for the robot
OddHat
Re: Re-envisioning Greatest American Shazam Isis Star Wonder Misfits Bionic Manimal Invisible Spider Hulk Night-Stalker Automan Strange Destroyer Master Ninja Hero from Atlantis My dream TV series and occasional campaign background. All of the American 70s and 80s TV Superheroes and near-superheroes, facing the Supernatural menaces that plagued Kolchek as well as their own foes, all of the characters coordinated by the OSI, with a million dollar per episode budget and Sam Raimi and Francis Lawrence as the producers and show-runners. Edit: Missed Mathew Star and Starman, so added "Star" for both of them.
